If Wood, why not Garciaparra?

Wood, Prior, Ramirez, Walker all seem to be injury plagued, yet they're all signed for next year. Why not Garciaparra, too? At least he's fun to watch and seems genuinely interested in being a Cub. What would happen with a lineup like this in 2006?

Abreu RF
Murton LF
Garciaparra SS
Lee 1B
Ramirez 3B
Hairston/Pie CF
Cedeno 2B
Barrett/Blanco C
Zambrano/Prior/Maddux/Wood/Burnett

Yes!
Let's also sign AJ Burnett to round it out.

a combo
of Hairston/Pie inCF batting 6th would be the ultimate disgrace of a lineup.  If JH and Pie are in CF for the Cubs in '06 we are destined for 5th or 6th place.

Ah, but...
... a platoon of Hairston and Kenny Lofton might be just the ticket...

Hairston and Lofton
would answer the too-many-rookies question. Hairston seems to get along with the other ball players, although his relationship with Dusty seemed a little frayed around the edges. Lofton quietly got the job done and I don't remember any controversy when he was here before.
