Behind the scenes at MLB Gameday...

Caught up recently with a friend of the family, a fellow displaced Cubs fan now living in Denver. Turns out he's got a baseball geek's dream job: entering the real-time data for Gameday at Coors Field.

Read all about it (and be jealous like me) in his column (archived) at The Hardball Times: http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-stringer/

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

Actually he's not, but it's hard to contain the pains of jealousy.

I can confirm that...
... because I was offered one of these jobs.

I turned it down because ... well, I just wanted to enjoy the games as a fan.

Pay is, incidentally, $85 per game.

Why can't I get that job?
I would loove to work there, but  I can't. :(

Al...
I applied for that job as well... and if it come up again, I will do so again. I can't think of much better to do than that... don't know if they'd allow me to run my blog and still work for them though. Small price to pay, of course.

I don't see why...
... a blog would come into conflict with that sort of job.

Does Soriano's defense at 2B really cost more runs than in LF? He makes a lot fewer errors in LF since misplays and mental mistakes aren't figured into the stats, but I have to imagine that his mistakes are more physical at 2B. Any thoughts? Is there a statistic on this?
