Star Pitcher Charged with Attempted Murder

This is a very odd story:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9967711/

Apparently, Ugueth Urbina has been charged with attempting to kill some of his household employees with machetes--and also trying to set them on fire.  Good thing we didn't go get him last year.

(Admittedly, when I saw the headline--"Star Pitcher Charged with Attempted Machete Murder"--I just naturally assumed it was Carlos Zambrano.  Got to love the guy's spirit, but I wouldn't want to be on his bad side.)

Wasn't his mother kidnapped last year?
I heard it was related to that, because the kidnapping and ransom of his mother was an inside job coordinated by some of his household employees.

Oh yeah...
... that's a great reaction to an inside job, trying to kill them with machetes.

I would imagine that if Urbina is formally charged with this crime, that would end his US baseball career. There's no way the State Department would issue him a work visa under those circumstances.

Even if he isn't
Do you think that, with all the crap he's been involved in, that any team is really going to want him?

This Incident...........
........actually occurred on October 15th, so it has taken some time for the authorities to sift through the details.

As mentioned in another post, money puts a big target on your back when you hail from that part of the world.

I read an article about this a few weeks ago
and it said that he believed that some of his employees had stolen some items from his home, and that was the reason for the attack.

Nice. And I was the big "hey! We should get Urbina to close!" chick last year. . . .

Here is the
article,
again I am not advocating any violence, but it is a different world down there, especially if you have money you are a target.

his agent
said he was sleeping when this attack took place.  We'll see when the details are furnished.
