The Royals need to sign Garciaparra at SS

With the Royals' recent signing of Doug Mientkiewicz and Mark Grudzielanek, the addition of Nomar would give them the longest (to announce) double play combo in baseball. And the hardest to spell.

Can anyone else think of any other double play combos from the past that would give announcers fits?

ha ha...
that's pretty good.  Think of the Announcer, "ground ball to Garciaparra, he flips it over to Grudzielanek, who grabs it and throws it over to Mientkiewicz, double play!"  The pitcher would be already throwing to the next batter if that were to happen.

why i like signing nomar the first time.

You know what...
I DON'T understand why all these teams like the Royals, Red SOx, Tigers are making deals left and right and Hendry appears to be idling...I thought he said we have a lot of improvements to make this offseason??  TOO SLOW!
C'mon now...anyone can have a bad century...

You can't be serious.
The four guys the Royals signed are dregs. Well, except for Grudz, and I doubt the Cubs wanted him anyway.

What difference does it make how fast the signings are as long as things get done before spring training?

C'mon Al...
one can't help but feel a bit restless with other teams signing.  I agree...none would be a fit for the Cubs but you gotta admit, it makes you long for that (usually) good feeling after your GM has made something happen.  I know...I said usually.  I'm not jealous of the players picked up rather the feeling that things are movin, that's all.

Of course....
we want something to happen.

But I'd rather wait for a GOOD signing or trade, than to have a BAD one made just to say, "Gee, our GM did something today!"

Agreed Al.
Completely.

Harry
Back to the original subject, that infield would have been Harry Caray's worst nightmare.
