Happy New Year -- Almost

It's not quite 2006 yet here in the USA (if you are in Europe, Asia or Oceania, you're in 2006 already), but let me take this quick time as 2005 comes to an end, to wish each and every BCB reader a prosperous, healthy and successful New Year in every way.

At this moment, the roster of our favorite team is certainly not such, that we could expect it to be a contender and winner in 2006.

But we can hope, can't we? It's three months to Opening Day, and the future cannot be known with certainty.

Keep the faith, everyone. That's why we are Cubs fans.

Happy New Year!

I can come up...
with reasons why we should win. One of them is simply because Cubs fans deserve it.

Happy New Year...
and my wife's prediction for 2006? The Red Sox, then the White Sox, then the Cubs, then the world ends. Could happen. "Carpe Annus!"

Dude
I'm hungover, and feel like crap.

God what a great Ano Nuevo, happy new year all, remember, bread, sleep, and a shower to get rid of that pesky hangover.

That sounds like fun...
if you feel like crap, why get drunk?  I hate alcohol.

it's not often that I do it. Going out to the bar and having a few drinks is one thing, New Years? That's a whole different leauge.

sorry to hear that
I definitely drank my fair share last night, but due to planning, and perhaps luck, I'm doing rather well today.

Happy New Years to all at BCB. Here's hoping 2006 is better to the North Side than 2005.

Yes, Al, we must keep the faith, and build on
the successes the Cubs had last year:

Yes...
let's build on that. Let's hope that the Cubs can do that to everyone.

Happy New Year!
I hope everyone's 2006 is awesome and full of sparkly things!

Of course we can continue to hope.  It's one of the things I do best. I love being a Cubs fan!

2006
A year ago, no White Sox fan realistically believed that his or her team was going to win 99 games and lose only once in the postseason.  It's time for the Cubs to catch some lightning in a bottle too, and who says this can't be the year?

HAHAHA
Oy, this is a good one:

Pirates interested in Sosa.

Have at it boys, maybe the Pirates are the "mystery team."

Well...
... from what I have heard about the Pirates decisions this off season, this does not seem to jibe with their actions. Jim Tracy does not like free swingers and with that in mind, they've let guys like Rob Mackowiak go. There had also been talk that Craig Wilson would be let go because of the free swinging mentality. If Tracy doesn't like free swingers, the Pirates would be best to leave Sosa alone.

ditto
Pessimism aside, we're better right now than we were last year. A contender? Probably not. Improved. Yes.

Have hope.

Happy 2006.
