Work for the Cubs?

Follow-up to a diary I posted in November. MLB/Monster has posted job openings, including several for the Cubs:

http://jobsearch.mlb.careers.monster.com/

Pay for the stringer job (entering data into the mlb.com Gameday) was $85/game last year.

Presumably, the position includes free cold-reheated Connie's Pizza and malt cups.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

Free Connie's I'm in, as long as I get a hot dog
as well.

Stupid school
I graduate May 13th. Something tells me they will need someone who can be there before then. Also I don't think the folks would like it if I took my Computer Science degree and went to work as a stats stringer for the Cubs.

Oh man tell me
you've learned the fine art of lying. Man just last night I was at the bar until 4 a.m when I was supposed to be up at 6 to help the folks. "Fell asleep at Lynn's" that'll do nice.

Man you just tell em' that there's alot room to go upwards. For example, "Mom, Dad, Kerry Wood came to my booth today and personally comended me on the fantastic job I've been doing"

They'll believe it.

Mom, Dad here is a sample of my work:
Pitch 1- Strike
Pitch 2- Ball
Pitch 3- In Play, Outs Recorded

Line Drive to 2B Ronny Cedeno, made a diving catch while being attacked by a streaking fan, who was later identified as drunk and upset Jose F. Macias.

at least
your degree involves something that you'll actually use at the job. I tried for this last year an had no idea how to applying an aerospace engineering degree to it.  Might have be the worst cover letter ever.

Hey, I applied...
...to work at the Rogers Center in Toronto.  I'm working on my PhD in Information Studies not too far away, so... who knows.  At worst, I get rejected, or find out I can't do it and turn down an offer if I got one.  At best, I get to see some free baseball.  Sounds like a good deal to me.

Applied
I just applied too. I thought about it and realized that since I am at the ripe old age of 22 I still have plenty of time to make money and have a real job.  That being said at one point they required you talk about a job that you had that was similiar to what you are being hired for. Having no experience I just put down my job as a Sports Camp counselor for my local park district. Below is what I wrote since I couldn't think of anything good.

I had a group of Jr. High age kids. We played a lot of different games and spent a lot of time talking about baseball. I realize that's a pretty weak link. The fact is I haven't had a job like this before I but I know that I would be able to do this job well. I enjoy working on computers and I love the Cubs. The idea of getting paid to watch baseball at Wrigley Field and keep score (something I already do when I go) is amazing.

Will i get the job? Doubtful.

Did I try? yes.

Do they accept...
sixteen year olds??

I would apply, but I can only go during the summer.  I have to go to school.

Well...
... this listing doesn't list any age or college degree requirements, as some of the others do.

Will they pay
for me to relocate?

I doubt there's much work for me out here in Fresno.
