Poll: Who's your favorite Cubs starting pitcher

The national media especially, tends to focus on Wood, Prior, and Maddux and rarely mention Zambrano.  However, the Chicago media does give him more credit.  And as a Cub fan most of us should be aware of his talent.  Don't get me wrong, I love Woody, Prior, and Maddux, but I just feel that Carlos doesn't get the recognition he deserves from the mainstream baseball media (despite finishing 4th in '04 Cy Young).  To me Zambrano is the one to get the most excited about and he is my favorite starting pitcher.  I'm interested to see if other fans like Zambrano as much as I do.

I agree
I couldn't vote in your poll, because I think I love them all equally.  However, I do agree with you that Zambrano doesn't get the credit he deserves.  But he's young, hopefully his time will come.  I was a little surprised to see that he's 4th in the rotation, it seems like he earned a higher spot than that.  What has Prior done to earn the second spot?  Not that I don't think he is a great pitcher, it's just that he didn't show us much of that last year.    I would have expected the rotation to be Wood, Zambrano, Maddux, Prior.   But, what do I know?  I think it's too early to be setting the rotation too.  Obviously I am nowhere near the same wavelength as Dusty.

I chose
Prior, although I also enjoy watching Zambrano pitch.  I just like Prior a little bit more, because when he is on it is one of the most amazing things to watch in all of sports.

What if
I want to vote for Glendon Rusch?  Seriously though, I think Rusch is going to have a good year.  We won't miss Clement that much.

Not an oversight
I didn't really think that anyone would vote for Rusch over the other guys.  Sorry, no disrespect to Rusch, but he isn't necessarily a lock for the 5th starter position although he has the upper hand.  I do think that we will really miss Clement, but we'll see how things pan out.  The great thing about baseball is that you never know what's going to transpire over an entire season.

I was joking
about Glendon Rusch of course, he isn't in the same class as the others.  But I do think he's going to be a real quality fifth starter, and since the question was "Who's your favorite?" and not "Who's the best?" I could see someone voting for the underdog Rusch.

But yeah, it's just a silly internet poll and nothing to get worried over.  I was just having some fun.

Zambrano seems inconsistent to me
Though admittedly, towards the end of last season he was settling into a bit of a groove. Alas, this was about the time the Cubs decided to forget how to score runs, worse luck :P

I worry about the starting lineup this year, not necessarily for the quality thereof but for the fragility thereof. Wood and Prior are notoriously injury-prone, and it's hard to tell how much game Maddux has left (though I suspect quite a bit). All the talent in the world doesn't do you much good if it's on the DL half the time.
