Hopefully Not A Bad Omen ...

I've also been out at Ho Ho Kam for the extended weekend, and I must say that for the most part it wasn't a pretty sight.

Al missed (or had the good taste not to mention) an incident last night that hopefully isn't a bad omen like the black cat in 1969.

For those who don't know, a black cat ran in front of the Cubs dugout at Shea Stadium during trhe 1969 pennant race, which many have said was an omen of the bad things to come.

Well, if the incident last night was any indication (and cross your fingers that it wasn't) we could be in for a rough year as demonstrated by the lackadaisical play over the weekend.

An Arizona housing developer paraded a horse-drawn  carriage, Clydesdale style, around the field last night.

We subsequently found out that the carriage bore, among others, former Giant Matt Williams, whose performance against the Cubs in the 1989 NLCS made me wonder why he was being greeted like a conquering hero.

In any event, the procession stopped right outside the Cubs dugout.  The horses, uh, left a big mess.

Like I said, let's hope this isn't any kind of sign of what to expect for the season.
