Now that Borowski's back...

A discussion started an another thread, but I'd like to hear some specific opinions here.

What do you think should be done with Borowski now that he's back?

Star-divide

Personally, I think Dempster should be given a few more weeks to prove himself as a closer.  Borowski has been effective in the set-up position before, and since Hawkins seems to be flailing, a reliable set-up man is desperately needed.

If Dempster isn't able to take on the role as closer, I would be glad to see him returned to the rotation for the rest of the season and have Borowski take over.  I don't think it makes sense to have Dempster in the bullpen as a non-closer, and I think he should be given a chance to save a few games before they decide exactly who to use as the closer for the rest of the season.  I know that Borowski is capable of being an effective closer, but who will come through to be an effective set-up man?  If Borowski's stuff really is back, I think he will be a very valuable person to be able to bring in in the 8th inning.

I agree with you on all of this...
... particularly since the bullpen has been in flux all season. Why create more problems? Borowski seems willing to do whatever he's asked.

Whether Joe can close
Is something that will have to be decided after Dempster fails to close, in my view.
After all, Dusty knew that Joe would be back and when he would be back when he put Dempster into the closing role.
Ryan has closed two games successfully. He should be allowed to continue doing that until he fails. And then how many failures should he be allowed to have?
As for Joe, late-inning relief seems a good spot for him at present. He would be good in any position other than closing, in my view.
Except for his apparent lack of velocity, he does seem to have good stuff and good location.

Four in a row!
You can't pull a guy out when he's streaking.

There is, of course...
... another meaning to the term "streaking", but I think I won't go there.

Though, Dempster seems to me like the type who might just do that.

;)
