LaTroy Update

Whelp, it has been exactly 15 days since Hawkins was traded to the Giants for Jerome Williams and David Aardsma, and although I know we ALL have turned the page, I feel now is a good time to evaluate how much better off the Cubs are.

Hawkins (SF)

5    Apearances
4.0  IP
7/7  Runs/ER
0/1  Sv/L
5.48 ERA (pvs w/Cubs 3.32)

Williams(AAA Iowa)

3    Starts
18.1 IP
6/6  Runs/ER
1/0  W/L
2.95 ERA

I could not find any Cubs stats on Aardsma, leading me to believe he has no appearances thus far.

So, there are the numbers thus far for both parties in the trade.  Clearly it was a good trade on paper, but anyone would tell you that this trade had to be made because of Hawkins' play while he was a Cub, blowing leads and the like.  Looks like his struggles continue while the Cubs picked up a nice prospect, although I could see Williams used as bait when the trading deadline nears.  Any thoughts on whether or not they should keep Williams would be appreciated!

Aardsma...
... has made four appearances (two starts) at Double-A West Tenn. 13 IP, 8 hits allowed, 3 ER, 9 BB, 8 K's. Obviously, still a work in progress.

Here's his complete stat line for this year.

The walks
The walks are obviously my biggest concern about Dave-A. I think he'll join the team along qith Scott W. mid-August.
(Johan Santana pitches to R. Clayton, from Arizona) Great, Clayton! you hit the ball! ... into a double play.

Stats
Thanks Al!  Sounds like he has control/command issues.  Milb, good site.  Any thoughts on if they want to continue developing Williams or if they would trade him?  Too early to say maybe?

Williams...
... being a former Giants prospect, Baker has an affinity for him. He's only 23. I think the Cubs are looking at him as a reclamation project, but one with a fairly large upside.

Right now he has a fairly large backside (sorry!) due to an affinity for fast food. But the Cubs are trying to get him to work on that.

Those
animal style Double-Doubles at In N Out will do that to you.

Seriously though, he's always been a big dude.
