Newest Trade Rumor

Since Sheff has made it clear he's not going anywhere, I'm starting to hear that the Eye of Sauron...er, I mean the Yankees are starting to really talk to Beane about Kotsay. Which means...what about the aced-out guy on the mets, Cameron? He doesn't typically bat leadoff, but he could and he can play both CF and RF.

Any thoughts boys and girls?

The Cubs have prospects
that aren't even on our radar that are better than Duncan, Canoe, and Wang.  Beane would be a fool if he didn't listen to us.

AND
we can eat as much of his salary as necessary too. The Yankees have no edge this year on the trade market.

hey, fair enough
i agree...but the question also is this: is kotsay a better choice than cameron? thoughts?

by cephyn on Jun 30, 2005 3:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Yes.
They both walk about the same amount of times per year and Kotsay strikes out half as much.

The A's are playing better...
... I wonder if Kotsay is off the market.

by Al Yellon on Jun 30, 2005 5:12 PM CDT reply actions

I doubt it
They won't be in contention for a playoff spot this year either way.

You guys hear the one about the Devil Rays wanting Dubois and Rich Hill for Aubrey Huff?

No
and Rich Hill should be going nowhere.  He has been more impressive than Mitre and they should let go of him, even though he has pitched at a level I never thought he could. Dubois I can deal with because once we get that other outfielder, Holly will be our 4th one and I think he will be and extra.  Dubois has power, but thats about it.

Forgot,
to to talk about the As.  At first I thought they might make it, but now even though they are better I'm pretty sure they wont.  Even though the west is always pretty close in the AL too, I dont think they will make it.

Rich Hill -he's a keeper!
Yes, I saw that on the net. I think Rich Hill is a real prospect-trading him in a deal for Huff is ridiculus. Surely they can come up with another suitable player.
Huff,Wilson -golly are those guys really that good? Kotsay is for real but if.....what do you do with Patterson? Everyone keeps saying there are a lot of teams who would would take him- like who?

Don't trade Rich Hill!

If trading Hill
were to bring us Dunn, I say do it, short of that, it's not worth it.

What to do with Patterson?  Move him to one of the corners and to the seven hole in the lineup. We'd have a very strong defensive outfield then, with some very good arms.

Why
not Kotsay to left?  I have heard Corey should be moved so many times, but I really dont know if it matters.  I dont know much about Kotsay's defense exactly besides that its pretty good. Someone show me the light on this.

Kotsay's D
is better than Corey's.

Probably not
Kotsay can still walk as a free agent at the end of the season.  Beane has tried to sign him to an extension but he's refused so far.  Beane may try a little longer to re-sign him, but if he can't, he's going to try to get as much for him as he possibly can.  Beane won't let Kotsay walk for nothing and even with their hot streak, the playoffs are a longshot for Oakland.

Package
I would trade Dusty Baker, Cory Patterson, Jason Dubios and Jose Macias for Aubrey Huff and Lou Pinella
