12 pitchers

I think most people here agree that having 12 pitchers on the 25 man roster is unnecessary, but I'm wondering what some opinions are on which pitcher should be sent down/DFA'd.

My first thought is Ohman, but he has done fairly well as a LOOGY, so he's gotta stay.  Wuertz would maybe be the next choice, but I think he's done well this year, and it would be good for him to spend the entire year in the majors.

Maybe Remlinger can crack his pinky finger again and go on the 60-day DL this time.  I think that would be ideal.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

rinse, wash, repeat
I would keep sending Novoa, Wuertz, Ohman, and Wellemeyer through the wash, rinse, repeat cycle of sending them down to let their arms rest and then calling them up once they're fresh.
The Cubs will thrive in twenty-oh-five!

Remlinger...
... might be attractive to someone in a trade, especially if the Cubs ate whatever's left on his contract.

Novoa is probably the actual 12th guy. He could be sent down.

Novoa
Yeah, I forgot about him.  I think he'd be the guy I'd send down.

at this point in time
i would rather have 12 pitchers, and a smaller bench. my thinking: dusty has proven (to me, anyhow) that his bullpen management is weak, and that his bench people are preferably veterans. an extra bench player right now (grieve) would take starts and/or at bats away from murton, cedeno, and greenberg. these will be the players who spark a second half success, not the 11th or 12th pitcher.
in the event of a major acquisition (dunn i <3 you), then say good bye to novoa. unless a pitcher were part of the dunn trade. just my take. thanks for reading.

Does Soriano's defense at 2B really cost more runs than in LF? He makes a lot fewer errors in LF since misplays and mental mistakes aren't figured into the stats, but I have to imagine that his mistakes are more physical at 2B. Any thoughts? Is there a statistic on this?
