Minor League baseball games in Texas

I will be going on vacation to Texas later this week to watch some Minor League baseball games in Texas including Fort Worth Cats and Frisco RoughRiders. I may go to Texas Rangers game in Arlington, TX this weekend. My father lives in Grapevine, TX where they aren't that far.

Some of you know that Fort Worth Cats' Manager Wayne Terwilliger is former Cub and he turned 80 years old last week on Monday. I will report on that Fort Worth cats game if you would like me to and I will describe more about Wayne Terwilliger. The Official website is www.fwcats.com.

The two-year old ballpark in Frisco called Dr.Pepper/7-Up ballpark is one of the best ballpark for the Minor League baseball. In 2003, it was named the new best Minor League Ballpark by  Baseball America. If anyone of you visit North Texas, I would recommend you go to Frisco RoughRiders game in Frisco, TX about 40 minutes north of Dallas. The RoughRiders is Rangers' affiliate of its Double-A in Texas League. The Official Website is www.ridersbaseball.com.

I know I will miss some Cubs game on TV this week. I hope the Cubs will finish on a better note before the All-Star Break with victories over Braves and Marlins.

Cool
That sounds like fun. If you ever head out towards Midland, Tx, there's an Athletics AA-team there, The Rockhounds.

The Rockhounds at one point were a Cubs farm team(from 72-84), they had Bruce Sutter there once, and then they were an Angels farm club(from 85-98).

Hope you have fun.

Planning in future...
Yes, I would like to go to Midland, TX but not this year. I am planning to visit Midland in the future probably next year or two more years.

How irony is that I know some little about Athletics farm system because of the Kane County Cougars (Class A team) where I live few miles from the stadium in Geneva and Sacramento Bees (Class AAA team) where I visited Northern California 4 years ago and got to know more about Sacramento Bees. Plus I've read Moneyball book by Billy Beane. So it would be nice to head out towards Midlands and watch Atheltics' AA team.

Yeah thansk I'll have fun this weekend going to baseball games in Texas this weekend.

Sounds like a great idea, Julius!
I live in Dallas and can highly recommend the Ballpark at Arlington, where the Texas Rangers play.  It is a beautiful park, with all the comforts of a new place and quite a bit of the charm one would find in an old place.  You may even get to witness Kenny Rogers kicking a kid he mistakes for a journalist, if you're lucky!  Just kidding.

You have heard correctly about the Roughriders' place in Frisco . . . it is lovely and intimate and you will enjoy your time there.  (At a reasonable price, too!)

I don't know how much time you will have in Texas, but Nolan Ryan has a minor league team in Round Rock, Texas, which is just north of Austin (called the Round Rock Express), that will be playing at home this weekend and (I think) in Oklahoma City next weekend.  I have heard that both the Round Rock and OK City parks are nice, and each would be within a 3-hour drive of your father's place.

Enjoy your visit!
