Lasorda's stretch
How rude was it for him to say we are the 2nd best fans in the world in our ball park and then say Dodgers instead of Cubbies?!?!?
I threw my bad play brick at the TV. Good thing it is made of styrofoam.
He was surely making a funny of some sort, but his tone of voice and demeanor didn't portray it. Just wanted to vent about it.

Lasorda has always been a tool
There's a bar not too far from Wrigley called Higgin's Tavern. The owner has a ton of sports items on the walls. Several years ago he was at a card convention (or something) and had his picture taken with Lasorda. He had the picture blown up and sent a copy of it to him with a check for $100 and a letter. The letter explained who he was and asked Tommy to sign it and send it back to him. He stated the check sent had the To: field blank and he could fill in whatever charity he liked on it.
A few weeks later the owner received the signed picture back and placed on the wall. His curiosity caused him to call the bank and request a copy of the cleared check. When he recieved it he was surprised to see that Tommy filled his own name in the To: field, endorsed the back and cashed the $100 check! Like he needs the extra $100.
A copy of that check (front/back) and the letter hang next to the picture now.

Tommy's Favorite Charity
Tony Tavares (Nats President) told a long story on a radio show when the Dodgers were in town about how he took Lasorda to lunch, and he told him that he never ever paid for lunch. He did it in a funny way, but unfortunately I don't remember the story, just that Tommy sounded like a jerk.
Lasorda is a fraud
As far as the TMOTTBG, it is time to lose the celebrity part and emphasize the Cubs fan part. No more Tommy, no more Bob Uecker.
And just maybe....
It is a part of what makes the Cubs and Wrigley different form all the teams and ballparks around.
