FanPost

It began with the goat

and continued with Bartman.  Could it be we have the next curse right here in our midst?

A certain fan who shall remain nameless has been to 85 games thus far this year has seen the Cubs stumble to a 40-45 record.  In games he has not attended, the team's record is 34-31.  If you project that out to the 150 games to date, the Cubs would be 79-71. That's only 2.5 games behind the Astros.

We still have 7 games left with Houston and there is no telling what would happen.  So I ask you if Baker and the boys are really to blame for this season's failure to make the playoffs.

Hmmmmm.

PS.  For those who can't catch the sarcasm, this was written full tongue in cheek.  Superstitions are fun but let's begin next year without talk of any curse.  Neither the goat nor Bartman nor even the media-enabled nameless fan had anything to do with the Cubs failures. And in the future the only thing that will get us into the postseason will be the team's play.  2006 is our year.  Unless it's not.
