Baseball Card Collectors

In my younger days I spent a good 5 years of my life as an avid baseball card collector.  About 15 years ago I put them all in a box and just recently thumbed through them.  I found several that I thought may be worth something, but am having trouble finding a resource.  I know as a kid I used to purchase a price-guide magazine, but the name of it escapes me.  Does anyone know of any reliable resources, in print or online, for card value appraisal?

tuff stuff
is also a good one.  Beckett sometimes inflates their true values to make the card business look in good shape.
First Boston, then the White Sox, its now the Cubs turn.

80's cards
There are very few 80's cards that are worth anything.  So many people collected that the supply is just too great.  The high dollar items are now cards with autographs or pieces of jersey or bats etc... in them.

Baseball card values...
...in any of the guides are all over-inflated if you are looking to sell, but less if you are looking to buy. Just try to sell one.
Also, cards in the 80's were in the mass production mode...the whole set was printed at the beginning of the season and sold as such. Whereas, for instance, in the 50's the cards were printed in series...about 100 released each month during the season. Hence, "low-numbered" cards are more available because interest is always high at the beginning of the season. But, "high-numbered" cards, printed later in the year are more scarce and hence, more valuable, because many collectors lost interest late in the season because "their" team was out of it and they didn't care...so fewer sales and fewer cards in circulation.
It can get more complicated, but that's it in a nutshell.
"Made his major league debut on September 17 and stayed in the lineup for 424 games, a record start-up."
