HBO Documentary

A buddy of mine has asked me if I would share the following information with any Cubs fans I know. I think you all fit that description. So...

"As you know, I have been working on a Cubs Blog for a few months.  When I went to the Cubs convention I was interviewed by an HBO film documentary on Cubs Fans.  Well, HBO has gotten back in touch with me and would like to hear from other fans.  Please check out my blog if this interests you.  If not, forward it to any Cubs fan you know.
Thanks

i think
al mentioned something like this a month or two ago. i emailed them some stories, but never heard back.

asking cubs fans to tell stories about the cubs is like asking a movie star to talk about themselves--they are probably inundated with material.

but it would be cool is some of us were in the documentary.

Yeah, I remember...
Al mentioning it.  It would be cool if someone from here was in it.

Al, are you going to be in it?

I have heard from the producer...
... he was at the convention, but we didn't make contact. Now, he's in Arizona filming one of the Randy Hundley fantasy camps.

He said he'd contact me next time he and his crew come through Chicago.

2004 Cubs Fans Documentary
Two years ago (2004 season) my wife and I were interviewed on camera outside of Dodger Stadium prior to a Cubs game there by a film crew who purportedly were producing a documentary on Cubs fans.  They claimed that they were traveling the country to various venues and interviewing people they met before games. They also claimed to have started filming at the Cubs Convention that January.  I've got their card somewhere and they seemed legitimate.

But I guess the deal fell through at Sundance because I haven't heard nor seen any 'Cubs fans' documentary since then.

If you can find the card...
... let us know who the company was.

MythMagic Films
OK, after tearing my house apart this weekend I finally found their card - this morning at work.  The producer's name is Adam Wolf, Producer/Director/Editor (sounds like a one-man operation) of Mythmagic Films, Sherman Oaks CA, website: www.mythmagic.com.  I went to his website and found only a small mention of his Cubs Fans project in his bio. You would have to contact him to find out what ever happened to it.

I think it's cool that Cubs fans have been/are the subject of multiple film projects - you don't hear this about Red/White Sox, NYY, or any other MLB team fan bases.

The current project...
... is very different, as the producer I have been in touch with works for HBO directly.

In Cubs Nation
In Cubs Nation, the book about the 2004 season, the 2004 HBO documentary is mentioned several times ... by the end of the season, according to the book, that project had been cancelled or postponed.

They...
...were probably hoping to time it with a Cub trip to the World Series.  When the season went into the tank and the players were acting like whiny kids on the field, the project lost it's steam.

Cubs Movie
There is also this other guy doing a cubs movie. If you go to www.cubsmovie.com you can check it out. He did a lot of the filming a few years back and hasn't released it yet. It was orginally supposed to be released a few years ago. I guess financing has been a problem for him. Anyways, hopefully it will be realeased eventually.

Looks like...
... the project's sort of on hold -- doesn't appear to have been released, and there's a "journal" there, a sort of blog I suppose, with a post every couple of months.

On the topic of the HBO film, the producer called me today -- I spoke to him about various things for about 20 minutes, and hope to meet with him when he returns to Chicago in February, and again in Arizona in March.
