Piniella rules out Giants job.
I just heard on ESPN radio that Lou Piniella has ruled out being considered for the Giants job due to the distance from his home in Tampa. I guess that just leaves the Cubs for him. I will give any manager a chance, but I'm not a big fan of Sweet Lou.

I'm still trying to
But here's the deal. In my experience, this is the vicious circle that Cubs fans I know go through.
Year one: Aww man, this manager SUCKS! Give us a new one!
Year two: Yeah! New manager! Woo hoo! Looky at us! We did well! All hail the new manager!
Year three-??: Bummer, it was an alright year, but it's not his fault.....
Year after that: Yes it is!! I hate that guy! Give us a new manager!!
So maybe getting a guy we don't like will at the very least be a break in routine, which is good to prevent Alzheimer's. Which is why I brush my hair with my left hand.
Maybe

I agree,
I'd love to hear better reasons from this guy. If nothing else, it will sit better with fans everywhere to have a manager with strategic vision, rather than one who is altruistically taking on a charity case.
Is he saying he's good at taking on challenges?? I'd like to hear why he thinks that HE HIMSELF will make the perfect fit for the ballclub at his disposal, granted he is hired. I don't want to hear about what he will do with offseason signings. I want to know what he can do with what he has, how he will work with the guys, how he will handle the staff, how his managerial skills can inspire what was a mediocre team to excellence. I'm not interested in his taking on a challenge.
I think we're just
Hendry will most likely blow it like he always does. We can get on our with our lives while watching the Cubs suck from April through September just like this year.
Sigh

At least
Well, I do at least, you're almost 25 and it's all down creek from there.

What?
Baker was here 4 years.
Baylor was here 2.5 years
Riggleman--5 (best season as manager in 4th season)
Treblehorn--1
Lefebvre--2
Zimmer--3.5
I think this cycle is just from how damn long the last 4 years seem. They didn't go too fast with Dusty.
Not really the time
And I was kind of kidding around. Like Colossus said, easing the pain.
They should have stuck with Zimmer
IMO, Bochy seems like the best
The more I read about Bochy...
Why the Cubs and not the Nationals?
If he really doesn't want to go to a rebuilding team, turning down the Giants, Cubs, and Nats makes sense. In that case, he should hold out for another year until Torre's contract expires and then see if King George will bring him back to New York. But to consider the state of our poor Cubs any different from that of the Giants and Nationals is delusional.
