Hendry on 720AM tonight
Jim Hendry will be on Sports Central tonight with David Kaplan a little after 8 PM, WGN 720 AM. Hopefully Kaplan won't be afraid to dig deep into Hendry's decision making with regard to off-season pitching aquisitions.

Why do people
You prefer the Score morons who make stupid nasty comments about his weight? Boers and Bernstein actually said today he has never made a good trade. Of course Terry and Dan usually spend their time making nasty comments about Sando.
Hendry probably forgot to kiss Terry's butt at a wedding.

Prior....wait for it....
From the few miniutes I heard - tuned in prior (no pun intended) to see what they would be talking about before Hendry was supposed to be on air. Caught maybe the last 10 minutes.

Any substance at all from GM??
They seem to need to make at least one trade to shed excess pitching and Jockstrap Jones, but dunno if they'll land a CF.
It may be a mistake to put too much stock in Pie if he doesn't pan out; do we have any other internal options?? Is Pagan a possibility for full-time duty? What's the name of other OF who was hurt, now coming back, in system?? I've also read they may switch E. Patterson to OF because he's "blocked'' at 2B.

I heard the interview
Hendry defended the Marquis signing, saying a starting pitcher has to do two things: win games, and give you a lot of innings. He said Marquis would do both. He's only 28, and he's won 42 games over the last three years. He admitted Marquis finished 2006 badly, and didn't point to any specific work Marquis or Rothschild had done to fix any problem. "With our bullpen, the way it's constructed [meaning keeping only 11 pitchers?], we need starters to give us innings. Zambrano will give us innings, Marquis will give us innings, we hope Rich Hill will mature into a guy who gives us innings, Lilly will give us 6 innings a start."
When asked whether the Cubs were still going to acquire a centerfielder, in about 5 minutes of talking, Hendry never once brought up the name of Jacque Jones. It had a "you're dead to me" feel. Instead, he mentioned that Pagan is still on the roster, and "can play defense across the outfield" and "we didn't get a fair look at him last year when he was injured in the middle of the year." He mostly said they would try Pie in Spring Training, and if he is ready, he will play. The Cubs will not acquire anyone who is in a long-term contract (unless they could move to another role) or who would otherwise block Pie. Kaplan said "A scout from another team told me Pie can play defense anywhere right now. Is it too much pressure to play the kid every day on a team that wants to win now, or is it fine if he bats eighth and isn't counted on as a run producer?" Hendry said they would do what was (1) best for the Cubs and (2) best for the player. "This is no weakminded kid. At age 21, he's a strong person (paraphrasing). When he's ready to play, he'll tell us, in the sense that how he's playing will make it obvious that he's ready." It sounds like Lou is on-board with this plan.
That was about it.

Though I must say I do applaud you in your efforts to legitimize message boards in the eyes of these "people" you refer to as being much more than simply a place for children and the unemployed (though you left out shut-ins, which I find curious). Hell, you might even inspire me to start an account on Monster.com.
But first things first. I have Cheetos crumbs on my shirt, and I am trying to figure out a way to get them off without moving.

Forgive me cubswin. I haven't been the paragon of adulthood I should be and I wish to make amends.
Unfortunately, I'm not so great with words, so instead I decided to let this speak for me and I think it says it better than I ever could.
So, here you go cubswin, a message, from the bottom of my heart.

I have the Wood segment
I don't see Lovie Smith doing cartwheels, and the Bears seem to be.....OK. The most emotion I've seen from Lovie was Monday night, on Hester's record-breaking return. And football is a TRUE game of emotion. 162 games -- being on an even keel is the best way to go. Emotional highs and lows will come, but ya gotta keep it together!
On the other hand...."emotional" Lloyd McClendon didn't get it done with the Pirates, right? (Bad talent, to be sure.) But, he was usually blowing up at an ump, throwing the gatorade cooler or a bunch of bats onto the field -- and I don't see how that improved the Bucs.
His 'emotion' had nothing to do with the Pirates losing. Dusty's alleged lack of emotion (unless, he lost interest in his job, and then, that's another issue) didn't make the Cubs losers in 2006. Try bad pitching, untimely hitting, a bad bullpen -- for starters.
Mr. Wood obviously had some other problems with Dusty Baker, but this is how he chose to air his dirty laundry.
