Much focus as we all have read has been the addition of what many consider overpaid underacheiving pitching. I am hoping that the Cubs can catch lighting in a bottle with their choices of free agent pitchers. Therefore I offer a change in subject.
Centerfield? New reports have the Cubs considering Pie for starting CF. I personally to not think he is ready, if ever. I base this concern on former prospect hype. Choi, Hill, Kelton (purist swing in Cubs farm system, remember?) and others. The facts are the Cubs minor league system has not produced a regular starter in their line up for sometime. Murton, no not drafted by the Cubs. Mark Grace, yes but sometime ago. Help me here, I come up empty with others that the Cubs have produced since Grace. I am not talking pitchers, but field position players.
First entry here, I Hope I am not dragging on. On another diarie I would like to discuss the options the Cubs have if 1) Pie fails 2) Replacement 3) CF by committee.
