Nintendo Wii needed---HELP!!!

I am sorry about this diary and many BCB'ers are going to be annoyed by this diary--but I am desperate to find a Nintendo Wii and I just wanted to investigate every possible angle.

So, if anyone knows how to acquire a Wii for near face value (and not the over exaggerated prices on eBay and Craigslist).....PLEASE let me know :)

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation, Bleed Cubbie Blue, or Al Yellon, editor-in-chief. FanPost opinions are, however, valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

Uh
Last week they had tons of them at Best Buy out here in Naperville. Are they hard to find?

I would imagine...
... with Christmas being over now, that stores will suddenly find themselves overstocked. Go shopping this weekend.

by Al on Dec 26, 2006 1:52 PM CST   0 recs

Atleast down here in Texas
Gamestops get their shipments of new consoles every Thursday, and the past few weeks they took a day or two atleast to get rid of.  Worth asking the local store when their shipments come in and check that morning.

Circuit City
Most CC's get their shipments on Saturday and Wednesday.  You could also check there then (later in the day or early the next day)

im gonna be that guy.
I spent 4 wonderful years in Macomb at WIU and I could of sworn Galesburg was north of Peoria. Of course more importantly, you are 50 miles north of Macomb. Sadly none of this helps in the quest for a Wii as Galesburg is far from Chicago. I just got excited cause I have definitely passed through Galesburg on my than a few occasions over the years.

I normally wouldn't jump on issue like this, but since I spent a decent amount of time down in that area I wanted to make sure my memory hadn't betrayed me already.

No....but my best friend's little bro bought it...
and he said it was the greatest thing ever.....I really want the Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Super Mario Galaxy........it looks like the greatest gaming system ever.....

I just won my Fantasy Football league, so I have about $700 burning a hole in my pocket......but I am very financially smart with my money....so I want to pay face value ($250 + tax) only.....

Mark...
... the 11-year-old video game expert in my house, has played a Wii at one of his friend's houses, pronounced it "extremely cool", and of course now wants one.

We shall see.

by Al on Dec 26, 2006 3:12 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

I really want the Ultimate Alliance.....
When you play as Spider-Man......you actually have to make the motion like you are shooting webs out of your hand!!

I need this system...lol!

yea
i heard it was pretty cool too. i am trying to decide if i want a wii or a ps3. im a HUGE madden 07 fan(no one can beat me). ive played it n the ps3 and the gameplay is great. id love to see what it is like one wii

by tbizzle83 on Dec 26, 2006 3:15 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Pfft.....forget the PS3....
If you want a system with a DVD player, just get a DVD player......screw PlayStation.....plus Wii is only $250.......PS3 = $500.

by TheBeerBaron on Dec 26, 2006 3:19 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

true
but ive always been a big ps fan. but you cant argue with the price difference. you cant get a ps3 for lower than 800 right now

by tbizzle83 on Dec 26, 2006 3:21 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

That's true.....but I would
still rather find a face value Wii which will only cost around $270......

The wii is awesome
I got one a few weeks ago.  I own Zelda and Rayman...Rayman is a blast.  I highly suggest that game!  However, Super Mario Galaxy got pushed back to being released at the end of 2007...

More
There is also a website I have seen with great photos of the results of the Wii controllers becoming projectiles.  I think it is wiihaveaproblem.com, but don't hold me to that.

My favorite pic is the one showing the controller stuck in the side of a TV.

My son bought himself a Wii (he's a working man now) and he echoes the comments on here.  He loves it.  He researched the PS3 and X Box 360 and decided the Wii was the one.

He also has become quite a baseball fan.  Follows the Angels and Diamondbacks and he's becoming quite knowledgable <beaming with pride>

What about the xbox 360?
I was thinking of getting that.  I'm 25 - have no kids - and just want a game system for myself.  I like sports games and shooter type games.  Will the wii satisfy my needs or should I get an xbox 360 or ps3?

Sports games...
The Xbox might have a better selection than the Wii.  The Wii should have EA's MLB baseball this spring.  But I believe the xbox has exclusive rights for the NCAA games.  At least that's my brother's argument for owning the xbox.

But a baseball game for the Wii is going to be sooooo fun.  The Wii Sports game that comes with the Wii has a baseball game that is pretty simplified, you only hit or pitch.  But when you are batting, you hold the wiimote like a bat up in the air, then swing at the pitch.  Pretty damn fun.

by bleedhawkeyegold on Dec 27, 2006 12:56 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Are you sure that EA sports is back
making baseball games again??? A little piece of me died when they stopped making MVP Baseball.....I won't play any other baseball games (well, except Mario Baseball for Game Cube...which, btw is the most fun baseball game ever!) aside from MVP Baseball...........The last one was MVP 2005....with Manny Ramirez on the box.

by PriorandAramisfan23 on Dec 27, 2006 1:19 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

I want one too.
I wish I knew more about the newer video games.  I used to be obsessed with my Sega Genesis.  I played so much I got blisters on my thumbs.
