BCB Free Agent Frenzy Contest - Another Update

With the signing of Barry Zito by the Giants, all fifteen free agents in the BCB version of MLB.com's contest have been signed for 2007 (and some, far beyond that!). This is far earlier than last year, when it took till February to get all 15 signed.

The link above contains all the entries. I'm asking here for a volunteer to go through all the entries -- you can also check here for an interim update -- and post the winner in the comments here.

When we determine the winner, I'll contact that person and choose a prize from Al's Big Collection Of Baseball Stuff.

Somebody can double check...
but nobody predicted Zito would go to the Giants.  That means you can use the update from last time.

Most of the people said he would go to the Mets.  Are they in trouble now?  Their backup plan was supposedly Suppan and he's gone.  They have no pitching.  I think the Phillies or Marlins win the East next year.

i totally agree
but you can never count those braves out. someone should make a before the season prediction post. here would be mine

NL division winners
Phillies
Cubs
Dodgers
Wild Card- Cards(ughh)

AL division winners
Red Sox
Tigers
Angels(only if colon is healthy though)
Wild Card-Yanks

by tbizzle83 on Dec 29, 2006 12:12 PM CST up reply actions

i don't think
the wild card winner will come from the nl central. all the teams in our division, short of us, have failed to improve signicantly, and many (including the cards and astros) have taken pertty big hits.  i think, unless the new cubs really gel and play well, the nl central will be similar to the nl west, with all the teams hovering around mediocrity.

I stand corrected
Al, take a look at yahoodi's and Pkat's, it's your item being given away, it looks to me like Pkat won due to the adjustment though.

I think....
... you had it right the first time. What's the adjustment that would have Pkat first?

by Al Yellon on Dec 29, 2006 1:46 PM CST up reply actions

yahoodi
had 14 twice and no 7, taking that into account and since both his 14's were correct, I adjusted it which comes out to be 62, makign Pkat the winner.

Yabbut...
... Yahoodi also had two 3's and no 9. So what his actual score is... who knows?

Any ideas? Maybe I should declare co-winners and give out two prizes.

I think...
you should give it to Pkat.  Not to sound mean, but yahoodi didn't win if he used double numbers.  That doesn't seem fair, but that's just my opinion.

Hmmm.
Good points, everyone. What do you all say? Co-winners? Or one winner? I'll let all of you decide.

by Al Yellon on Dec 29, 2006 2:15 PM CST up reply actions

Al...
you're giving out the prize(s).  You should make the decision.

I have to agree with Sparkles
Not to be mean, but rules are rules. You could give him a consolation prize....

by LT on Dec 29, 2006 4:23 PM CST up reply actions

OK...
... that sounds perfect, because I actually had picked out two prizes.

Dkateeb is declared the winner. He (I'm assuming he's a he?) will receive a 2003 NLCS program.

Yahoodi comes in second. I'll send him a 2003 Braves/Cubs Division Series program.

Hope everyone had fun with this!

by Al Yellon on Dec 29, 2006 4:40 PM CST up reply actions

A 2003 NLCS program?
How is that a prize?

What's the consolation?

A video that plays the Alex Gonzalez miffed DP ball over and over again?

Do you want dk to go insane?

Keep in mind...
... the program was printed before the series. It's unscored. He can pretend the Cubs won.

by Al Yellon on Dec 29, 2006 4:52 PM CST up reply actions

I have that program...
...and I'll tell you what stinks about it: they included a scorecard in it, meaning the Cubs didn't sell their regular scorecard, meaning that my scorecard of Game 1 is a mess and is just kind of stuck in there like an afterthought. Damn that Mike Lowell...

I guess the rest of it is worthwhile, if you want to remember than series.

by gauchodirk on Dec 29, 2006 5:49 PM CST up reply actions

I scored...
... all seven games in an official program. Not a bad deal, 7 scorecards for $10.

by Al Yellon on Dec 29, 2006 6:08 PM CST up reply actions

I think I should win...

Ooops.

I don't remember having multiple numbers. But if I did, I did. I will abide by the ruling of the masses. I still did okay and a program from the  worldwideworld of AL is more than I could ever ask for.

Well that's not true. I wish Hendry would trade for a CF. Prefereably BJ Upton. But that's me.

Congrats to the winner and the hundreds of people who ate my dust. ( Said in jest.)

Happy New Year all.

You can do better than Upton...
even from that same team Baldelli, Crawford, and Dukes all make more sense in CF than Upton.. If one were to say I've soured on him it would be an egregious overstatement.

by cubsfan2883 on Dec 30, 2006 12:08 PM CST up reply actions

I know but

Wecan't afford the asking price for Baldelli or Crawford, and Upton can go to theinfield if Pie is ready, plus he's fast. That's why I say Upton.

Thanks...
...to everyone who declared me the winner. Al, if you need to get ahold of me, my email address is davekateeb@comcast.net.  Thanks again.  And yes I am a male.

you're not a winner in my book yet...
...so please keep your strutting about to a minimum, as in my book, strutting about is reserved only for winners, and you have yet to be declared one.

And don't get your hopes up either as I don't see it happening.

I already won...
...because Al already contacted me.

by dkateeb on Dec 30, 2006 5:42 PM CST up reply actions

No, you have not won...
...not in my book anyway.

In fact, my book already has a winner, and it's not you.

So sorry.

You might want to learn to lose graciously rather than this tantrum you're throwing. It's embarrassing.

If it's any consolation, you finished 18th out of a possible 22 contestants, which, while not very good, is something of a surprise as nearly everyone had picked you to finish 22nd.

Instead, you blew our minds and finished 18th.

That still sucks. But it's better than we thought you'd do.

Congratulations.
