Dave Matthews Band at Wrigley

According to the band, they are scheduled to play at Wrigley this summer during the all-star break.

This is quite interesting.  They did something like this at Fenway last year for 2 nights, just taking up center field.  I would definetely be excited about this and seems like it would be a good atmosphere.  Thoughts?

Interesting.
That's the first I've heard of this. The article says "two" concerts, which may be the reason the Cubs are scheduled for fewer than the maximum 30 night games allowed.

I think that's what they did
at Fenway.  I'm guessing that because the CD was a 4 disk set.

What a perfect event that would be.  DMB at Wrigley!  Too bad I'll be stuck in Syracuse.

DMB...
I don't personally like Dave/Band (I've heard some odd rumors), but I absolutely LOVE the music.

Crash is my favorite song of all-time.

Wish I could make it.

Crash

"Jimi Thing" is always absolutely outstanding live.

Dave Matthews is ...
....definitely a band I have to be in the right mood for. I loved his solo CD but didn't care too much for his most recent release.
My favorite songs from Dave are  "wearhouse", "Don't drink the water" and "Kit Kat Jam".

Those are all good
The last couple releases don't even compare to the first few.  I'm not pleased with the direction the band has taken.  But I'll always love them for Under the Table and Dreaming, Before These Crowded Streets, and Crash.  Plus, all of their songs sound great live.

my...
Favorte DMB song is also gravedigger. Must admit the acoustic version is much better though :)

by Patblue on Dec 4, 2006 9:38 PM CST up reply actions

The acoustic version...
...is why my name is what it is :)  You are right - it is excellent.  It is another one that can be down right chilling live.

I've been to over...
...15 Dave concerts and have a CD collection pushing 100 right now.  Count me in.

Man..
that's amazing.  I usually go to Alpine Valley every year, and I definetely plan on going to both Alpine and Wrigley for every show they have this year.

by CubsBall2202 on Dec 4, 2006 7:21 PM CST up reply actions

I've been to Alpine...
...5 out of the last 6 years.  I did my undergraduate work at UW-Madison and trekked over there yearly.  Camping out four days near East Troy is awesome.

Lucky
I've been to only two, but it would have been more had I not spent the last 8 years in the most remote parts of the country.

My second biggest wish (after the Cubs winning the World Series) is to go the full 3 days at the Gorge.  That'll never happen.

Also a very good one
I have a really hard time picking my favorites.  I love how you can just get completely wrapped up in Two Step, and where they can take the music with Jimi Thing.  Nothing beats Dave's vocals more than Bartender.  Crash has sentimental value.  Even the more pop songs from the Crash album are just fun, enjoyable music.

I think, though, my favorite is Rapunzel.  Give the lyrics a good look and you'll see why.

Dave Matthews Band
Just what Wrigleyville needs...

I wouldn't really have any objections to the Band playing in Wrigley as long as they don't dump any *stuff* on the field.

I really wish...
...people would stop blaming the band for the bus driver's incompetence.  DMB has done a lot for environmental causes, and I'm willing to bet that DMB was unaware of the company/driver dumping practices until it was too late.

by gravedigger on Dec 4, 2006 7:34 PM CST up reply actions

The Band...
...was not on the bus at the time, in fact.  DMB strongly supports the environment; examples are DMB's entire profits from Ben & Jerry's "One Sweet Swirl" ice cream going to the environment (I cannot recall exactly what), lots of "natural herb" smokers (not my cup of tea, but whatever...), and Steffan Lessard's clothing line was (maybe still is) completely natural.

In conclusion, it was not DMB's fault and it is ignorant to think so.

I don't like...
...Jimmy Buffett at all but he played at Wrigley.  DMB played at Fenway last year and it is considered one of the best concerts of the last tour.  DMB played a fan favorite at Fenway and let us hope they do a rousing rendition of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame".

If you don't like them, fine, move on.

Hey now....
That Jimmy Buffett concert was a blast.  Let's not knock each other's music here.

I am not...
...knocking Jimmy Buffett.  I was making an analogous statement relating JB to DMB and although we might not like the same much, we still can agree Wrigley Field is a great venue.

I'm not a huge Dave fan
but I would definitely try to get tix for a concert at Wrigley. That would be pretty sweet.
