Jason Simontacchi was reported as close to signing with the Cubs today in the Daily Herald. He sat out 2005 rehabbing. I've searched the web for information and didn't come up with anything about the rehab. The guy had one good year with the Cardinals and has playoff experience and a world series loss. If he can regain his pitching form and post decent numbers starting off in AAA, where does he fit in the Cubs plans this year? Starter, reliever or only more insurance behind Wade Miller? Is this a good move that could help or a trading chip? Discuss!
