Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Bruce Miles does a play by play of today's intrasquad game

http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=29324

Sounds like Jones had a great game.  The lineup for the A team which is potentially the cubs opening day lineup had Walker hitting second.

Pie took a walk :)  Dopriak had a good game also.  The Riot! had a good game also.

I so hate the 300 character limit.  This is a seperate subject and I don't want to add it as a comment for today's comic or an older thread.  I think a lot of people will be interested.  How about that for skirting the rules :)

I can say happily,
that the sox are not off to the great start that southsiders had hoped for.  I know I know, it is the very 1st spring training game but a guy can derive some happiness from that I'd say.  Go Cubs!

Lot of two baggers...
I like the extra base hits.  Of course D Lee is in there but others surprised me.   I think Jones will do alright as a cub and that is not based on one inter-squad game...it's been my claim since he was signed.  It is more my faith in Hendry.

Oh wow!
Rich Hill is off to a great start.  He shouuld have been traded I'm telling you, before he kills his trade value with another piss poor big league visit.

one game
isn't what the scouts are going to look at. Sure it doesn't look good but there isn't any scout out there that said, "oh well, 2 innings and he's a bust, next"

That is exactly what I said
I clearly stated that it is one game but it still qualifies as a atart to spring training...and it didn't look that good.  That's all...no one is judging as a whole, just the beginning.

my bad
sorry, didn't see that.

I wouldn't worry about it though, I'm sure scouts see more than just numbers.

I hear ya
I just hope he improves because I will be bummed if the day comes when we want to trade Hill and he no longer has the value he did this past offseason.  We'll see, I can't wait for the game today!

I think
no matter what he's going to have some value to him. Although the minors don't account for much you can't dismiss what he did in the minors was knockout, there will be some value to him, whether it's nil or not reamins to be seen.

I'm stoked for the game as well, it's just too bad down here in Orlando I can't see/hear it.

I like
Jones line and Guzman. And a walk from our leadoff (Pierre), that's something new!

its too soon
to say i told you jones would be ok to "not rose colored", right?

Apparently you don't read my posts...
...to the end.

I have been preparing for the early declarations of Jones for MVP.  I have conceded 100 times that he will have his usual quick start to the season.  That's not news.

Of course, if he comes back from two and a half years of nothing to have a great year, I'll cheer as loudly as anyone.  The question is: how many excuses will I have to endure when he begins his freefall?  Will it be more excuses or less than I had to deal with when the starry-eyed fans touted Neifi as savior?

I'll give him credit for his HR off of Cy Young today, though.  Bravo, Jacques, bravo!  You may start off just hot enough to ensure Dusty's extension!!

The best part is...
I think D-Lee drove him in.

Grissom
0-2 with a K.  He's a lock to make the team.

by SonnyJ9 on Mar 2, 2006 5:43 AM CST reply actions

I like this start...
Pierre - walk
Walker - walk
Lee - 2 RBI double

I could get used to that.

Play Ball!!!!

Go Cubbies!
