Luis Terrerro anyone?

Just got released by Arizona. Is a righthanded bat who has shown flashes, but never really been given the chance. His numbers last year were bad, but if you've seen him play, he has tools. If it's true that the Cubs will be getting the 25th man from outside the organization, then he might be a fit. He can play all outfield spots well.

I guess
Its worth a look but I have a feeling he will be claimed by a team like the Pirates or Mariners before he falls to the Cubs

The reason...
... Terrero was released is because he had a reputation as a bit of a headcase:
With Triple-A Tucson in 2004, he was suspended 29 games for throwing a baseball into the stands that hit a fan after a brawl in Albuquerque.

That was followed by another minor league suspension for kissing home plate after hitting a home run.

No thanks. Next?

I was actually more surprised to read that the Astros had picked up Joe McEwing and Cody Ransom. Man. They must be pretty desperate.

That is...
...NOT the reason Terrero was released.  Those incidents happened in 2004 and if they were going to release him because of that, they wouldn't have waited until 2006.

In truth, Luis went to a therapist in 2004 and has been a model citizen ever since.  (That is mentioned in the same article, but you ignored that for some reason).

Terrero's release by the D'Backs was strictly a numbers issue.  Terrero has shown flashes of brilliance, but has been somewhat inconsistent.  It is true that he never really has gotten any consistent playing time.

He is definitely a five tool player and he is still young, and somebody who has a roster spot open may will get a hidden gem by picking him up off waivers.

Astros...
the value of any Cubs pitcher we have just went up a bit with Joe McEwing on their team...

this royals site used to have a tracker of how much money he had made of baseball...he is a black hole and if these are the moves the stros' are making to get over the top its gonna be a rough year for em

A veteran that Dusty wouldn't have to play daily
For that spot I would like to see the cubs get a veteran bat with power.  Someone similar to Jeremy Burnitz actually.  It's too bad the pittsburghs of the league are still giving him starting jobs.
