Anyone notice the 34 on some of the hats?

I noticed that on the front of some of the Cubs players hats is the number "34" in what appears to be whiteout or a white marker, does anyone know what this is about?  I'm assuming it is in support of Kerry Woods rehab process, or maybe they are just Walter Payton fans?  I can't remember which guys have it on their hats, but I thought it was wierd unless Kerry Wood has some terminal illness - he has been chronically injured for the past several years.  Just wondering if anyone knew the scoop.

I saw
I saw Jones had a KP and Hairston had a 34.

Ditto
my first thought was that JJ's "KP" was a tribute to Korey Patterson since he has apparantly inherited the whipping boy status of Wrigley-ites.

Of course, that would mean that Jacque knows that we spelled Corey w/ a K.

gotta be
I saw in an article before the season started that JJ said he was dedicating his season to Kirby Puckett.  Good thinking.  Of course it would be funny for Kerry Wood to be watching the game down in AZ and telling the TV "Hey guys, I'm not dead.  I promise I'll come back and throw again until I feel a 'twinge'.  I'm good for a couple of games."
I'm just kidding.  I really do want to see Woody come back and return to form.  Good starting pitching and this team could go a long way.

makes sense now
I didn't see the KP and didn't realize that was Puckett's number.  Thanks!

Shedding some light
I didn't see the numbers but there is an explanation at the end of this article for the numbers/letters and why it was in marker.  Good article too.
