Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Hometown Boy

Scott Olsen hails from my town - Crystal Lake. He graduated from Crystal Lake south. So, I'll have to quietly root for him to do well. Just not well enough to win. I'm chaperoning our accelerated reader winners on a field trip to this game today. Look for our group. We'll have a sign that says, "Hey! Hey! READ all about it. River Trails knows the Cubs are on their way!" A sunny day, a Cubs game, two major league debuts for the starting pitchers. Teaching has its moments.

Another "Famous" Grad
Isn't newcaster Randy Salerno a Crystal Lake Central Grad?
I went to neighboring Cary-Grove and remember his athletic prowess.  Back in my day, Cary-Grove would get a beat down in nearly every sport.

Woo! Fox Valley Conference!
Heh, I went to Dundee-Crown.  Talk about getting beat down in every sport.  I don't know how they do now, but when I was there we got beat at everything.  Especially my sport - tennis.  Those Crystal Lake and Cary-Grove kids who played year-round at their fancy indoor facilities kicked our poor C'ville butts.

When did you all graduate?  Anybody in school at the same time as this kid?  Was there a lot of talk about him when he was playing in high school?  I looked up his birthdate (1984) to see when he would have been at South.  Boy did that make me feel old.

Olson and Dundee-Crown
If he was born in '84, then he was born the year after I graduated.  Back before moving to Cary, I lived across the street from Crown High School on Kings Road.  Isn't that closed now. I forgot if they closed Crown or closed Dundee when they merged.

My parents moved when they began the construction on the low-income housing.

Still open...
Dundee-Crown is in the building that used to be Crown on Kings Rd.  They closed Dundee when they merged.  Or actually, they turned the Dundee High building into Carpentersville Middle Shool.

I'm with you!
Our boys will be attending Central and as we just live down the street we're avid supporters f Central against all opponents. Go Cubs!
