Nomar on DL

Well, the inevitable has happened again:

http://tinyurl.com/o3v7b

"Garciaparra said he felt tightness in his right side during pregame warmups for Sunday's Freeway Series finale, felt it grab fouling off a pitch in his first at-bat and felt worse yet in his second and final at-bat. He was treated during and after the game, but discomfort persisted overnight and when he awoke Monday. Olmedo Saenz replaced him in the starting lineup for Monday's opener.

"I kept swinging and kept feeling it," said Garciaparra. "I was hoping it would feel better today, but it's still pretty sore."

Garciaparra said he has never had a similar injury. "

Wow.
... You know, I really feel bad for the guy. He seems to have worked really hard to get back to health, to learn a new position, and now this?

Star-crossed.

Oh yeah,
some people seem to have the worst luck. Like you, I feel sorry for him, he's a great player, if he could just, you know, play. I was sad to see the Cubs let him go, but I agreed with the decision.

Hopefully he'll recover soon.

and to think...
He was one of the top players in the game at one point and now he is a constant injury concern.  It's really to bad.

Spellcheck
That's "Samuel L. Jackson".

I do to a point
But the guy has made $53 million in his career, so I think he'll be OK.

The one I really feel bad for is Adam Greenberg.  He may never get back to the Show.

greenberg
ya- a life's worth of work upset in a single moment- pretty brutal...though i thought i read something this offseason about how he was doing good?
a good team can't be beat!

Greenberg...
... is going back to Double-A, which surprises me -- I thought for sure he'd be at Iowa.

He ought to do quite well there; perhaps he'll be in line for a September callup.

doubtful
he's just not a big league caliber player.  He's a good story, but not all that good.  Remember, we have a wager on whether or not he makes it to the majors.  LOL!

Mueller's next........
.....and then it'll be Lofton.

Go Cubbies!!

p.s. I feel sorry for Nomar, too---it's getting ridiculous for the poor guy.

Maybe Colletti's failed strategy
(yes, I realize it's early) will lead to his firing and permit Kim Ng the management job she should have had in the first place.

Dodger fans
should be so lucky. I don't think the parking lot attendant would have the guts to do that.

Never happen...
...if anything, if the injuries continue, it will just accelerate the overall plan, which is to promote the kids at Triple who were Double A last year. Colletti's job is beyond safe. It's well known here in L.A. that the Loftons, Muellers, Garciaparras and Tomkos are just rent a players until their can't miss prospects are ready. Case in point, rather than move someone else to firstbase, such as Olmeido Saenz or Jeff Kent, they've promoted James Loney from Las Vegas to fill in until Nomar gets back. Loney got a hit in his first game last night. If Nomar stays injured, and Loney acquits himself even passably, the future is already there at first base.

Kim Ng
I played in a charity golf event at Sherwood Country Club 4 years ago and was supposed to play with Dan Evans.  He couldn't get away, so he sent Kim to take his place.  What a great lady and an enjoyable day.

Highlight was hearing her talk about all the organization was doing to help Adrian Beltre develop into the player they envisioned.  It happened the following year when he busted out in a big way.

I hope she gets a chance someday.  Did you know that she's about 4'10" and 95 lbs.?  Very tiny.
