The Strength of the NL Central - One Month In
I posted these a couple of weeks ago, and Al suggested it might be a good idea to take another look at these at the end of April. So, one month into the season, here is how each division has fared against the other two ('total' records are against the two other divisions only - excludes intradivision games):
W L %
EAST
E v W 15 18 .455
E v C 8 24 .250
TOTAL 23 42 .354
CENTRAL
C v W 11 7 .611
C v E 24 8 .750
TOTAL 35 15 .700
WEST
W v C 7 11 .389
W v E 18 15 .545
TOTAL 25 26 .490
And, for whatever it's worth, here's what it looks like with the worst team in each division removed (Marlins, Pirates, Padres):
W L %
EAST
E v W 9 8 .529
E v C 4 16 .200
TOTAL 13 24 .351
CENTRAL
C v W 9 5 .643
C v E 16 4 .800
TOTAL 25 9 .735
WEST
W v C 5 9 .357
W v E 8 9 .471
TOTAL 13 18 .419
