is to sign Erubiel Durzao, who has been significantly above average in every year he's been in the league, with the lone exception of last season. He's currently in Oklahoma playing for the RedHawks (the AAA team in the Rangers' organization) and has hit .289/.365/.434 this season. He also has the option to file for free agency tomorrow if he doesn't get called up. Apperantly, he will leave tomorrow as he's unlikely to get called up and wants to exercise that option. Jim Hendry should sign him - he wasn't a great hitter last season but i think its fair to expect him to outplay Jerry Hairston and Neifi Perez at the plate. Hopefully, moving Walker back to 1st will allow him to focus on hit hitting once again.
The only problem? He's a lefty. The ideal player would be a righty that would play OF and platoon with Jacque Jones once Lee returns. Clearly, Durazo can't do that. You know what? I don't care. This team needs another bat, and they should sign Durazo for that purpose even if he's only a 1-2 month rental while Lee recovers. I don't know if this move would help salvage the season at this point, but it wouldn't hurt. We should be able to get him cheap, without giving up any prospects or much money, and he's shown more consistency at the MLB level than some of the other options suggested.
Sign him. Please, just do something!
