Some odd stat crunching...
While listening to the Cubs bumble their way towards a sweep at the hands of the hapless Marlins, I decided to look at some odd batting stats. These are current up through 45 games and are compared to all 30 MLB teams. (pardon the odd formatting)
GIDP= 47 T-28th (Pit & Tx 30th, 48)
Groundball/Flyball ratio= 1.54 30th (29th Min 1.40)
AB/HR= 44.9 29th (30th KC, 46.0)
XBH= 104 30th (29th Min, 114)
BB= 113 28th (30th KC, 109)
BA= .242 29th (30th TB, .237)
OBP= .299 30th (29th TB, .302)
SLG= .365 30th (29th SD, .376)
RC= 156.1 30th (29th KC, 165.6) (runs created)
RC27 (this is ugly)= 3.47 30th (29th TB, 3.93) (runs created per 27 outs)
I got all of these stats from ESPN.com, which is kinda ironic since I'm usually ripping on the "worldwide leader". The one stat I didn't see, but would be interested in seeing is Team LOB. Plus, with the way they're playing today, I'm sure the stats will be worse.
