Cubs and Lies?
I just have a question. What do you say, Cub Fans?
I need a filler: I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z. I love Z.

blah, blah, blah from the 1060 side
Chuck is an idiot who likes to argue.
1060 is a blog that embraces every Cub fans' right to bitch and complain and moan. To think that the team's failures are some sort of big conspiracy. I don't like that attitude, and I don't read their crap. They are the south side to BCB's north side.
Still, their opinions are their opinions, and who am I to tell them they are wrong. All I can do is not read them and not go to that blog. I stay here because I like the insightful conversation, because life is really too short to debate whether or not the great Neifi-conspiracy is designed to simply remove money from the fan's wallets.
It's baseball, folks. It's a game. It is designed to inspire passion and heartbreak. It is life.

I agree
From 1060 West:
Sparks:
Do that and include the following responses:
- Yes, I like being lied to.
- No, I hate being lied to.
- The Cubs don't lie to us.
I don't care what they post over there. Call us "Care Bears," call Al all kinds of obscene names, whatever. Actually, I agree with gaius 95% of the time. But when a poll is specifically designed and posted to make fun of people, I think people should know before they respond and take it seriously.

Big Surprise
Doesn't hurt that they are padding the vote. Gaius and Chuck are bullies. Let them think they are cool. It probably makes up for their shortcomings in other areas.

Man...
More and more I believe Piven was referring to them. I'm gonna give their disposition a shot and see how i feel...
The Cubs suck...I was right all along!...wow that's gratifying. (/sarcasm)
I think everyone knew the Cubs were a longshot before the season started, but I thought the point of being a fan is enjoying and hopin for a teams success, not their failure. Everything had to fall into place for that to happen. Instead, the fragile makeup of this team fell apart. No big surprise. That's where my joy ends. Not in their case. I could stand he who shall not be named's (part deux) strong injection of pessimism and arrogance here and there when he visited here, but the full dose over there just makes me sick.
What troll's...How did their heads not explode in 2003?

Hmmmmmm........
Chuck, who some of you feel is a pain in the ass, put the "poll questions" out there and, IMHO, Sparkles believed she was doing the right thing.
Personally, I don't find the questions offensive. Some of the inhabitants of BCB still believe the Cubs after the lies regarding the injuries, Sammy, Trainergate and Announcergate.
For as negative as some feel the folks at 1060 are, they feel that the BCB'ers are too positive. It takes all kinds.

I'd love to hear from Sparkles
I'd give her some leeway Sparkles has always been a supporter of BCB. Say it ain't so Sparkles that you have migrated to the Dark Side?
I gather from other posts that she is trying to prove them wrong.

Leave her alone, let it be. Take it in stride and move on. I'm one to talk, after berating 1060, I realize the error of my ways however, my words of anger only encourage such insanity.
Leave it be.

Julie,
Just look at the manager list that Al put up. It was funny as hell, but ridiculous.
I think we all need to take a step back and relax. IMHO, it was not that big of a deal. Unfortunately, since Chuck was involved, it may be harder for you to let this go....

by Faith plus 1 on Jun 19, 2006 11:07 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Nope.
Chuck, gaius, NO ONE forced me to do this. My brain started all the nerve impulses to put up this poll.
This is how it all came about. I read CCD's comment about checking the 'lemmings' and our thoughts about D-Lee coming back. Gaius then had his 'fantasy' comment which I totally disagreed with. Then CCD had another comment that had to do with repetition, so that is how I thought of a poll. I don't think anybody here wants to be lied to again. I didn't think I was going to do it at that point, I just threw it out there as proof that I could get to prove them wrong about us.
Then, Chuck posted the options and said that #3 would win. I thought that was VERY inaccurate, so I wanted to prove him and everyone wrong. I didn't tell anybody on 1060 I was going to do it(although it was probably assumed), and I didn't reference to the thread over there because I didn't think it was necessary. So, I posted it during a commercial break during the game, and then I left to the movies.
This was not to make fun of anybody. It was an honest question that I knew the answer to, and I just needed proof. If there is anybody that needs to be attacked for the poll it's me.

Sparkles, if that is your real name,
To all BCB folks offended, let it go. Giving them attention only encourages them. Recipeing them counts. It might be hard not to (and I am not always good at doing it), but my mom was right when she said that all they want is attention. If you ignore them they go away.
That does not, however, mean that MotherChucker gets to use aggressive derogatory terms about people (I'm not repeating it -- go there if you want to see it). If he, or anyone else, does it here, I believe all BCBers must call that kind of behavior out. That is more than just a simple joke from someone whose life is so barren they feel the need to throw names at another Internet board (made up of people who are fans of THE SAME TEAM as them).

spark, I ain't mad at ya
I just think that it is bizarre that there are people over there mad at fans of the same team as them -- not the people we all hate who will pay $15 for a beer just so they can go to "Wrigley Park" -- but actual, knowledgeable fans of the same tean. I just cannot figure it out.

Al,
IMHO, he created this blog so he can share his thoughts with others. By doing that, his opinions are open for discussion.
I know the folks over at 1060 can be "intense", but their opinions are just as valid as Al's.
Not knowing Al, I would hope that he would agree that by creating this site and encouraging discussion, his views are out there for debate and at times, arguments.

Agree
And everyone's opinions are also open to criticism. And with the blind optimism that permeates this site at times, the criticism is warranted. Maybe some of you should be a little more careful with your words if your not able to handle it.
by cubfan4life on Jun 19, 2006 10:45 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree
Also, the criticism should be accurate. The fact is that there is a huge segment over here that agree with a lot of what Chuck and Gaius have to say about this organization, the manager, and the players, so I'm unsure why we are all lumped in a "Care Bears."

Good God
In the grand scheme of things, nothing said here will effect any of our lives whatsoever. It's just a fun outlet to talk about the Cubs. Y'all act like middle schoolers when you let people like Chuck and gaius rile you up....do you honestly care what two monkeys sitting in their basements typing away to upset you because they have nothing else to do in their lives REALLY think about you?
Chat about the Cubs, don't chat about the Cubs. Be positive about their future, be negative about their future. Doesn't matter....just quit the moaning and worrying about what other people think.
