Whadda think?

I read an article that I thought pinpointed our troubles. It was by Ken Rosenthal on Fox Sports website. Heres the link.
http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5657268

Now would we be better if say Cuban took over. If so, how can we help. Maybe don't pack Wrigley when the team is as bad as they are. The Stadium is the problem, but it is not a curse. Resist temptation and stay away from the game till they put an acceptable product on the field.

If you owned a company that sold widgits, and people bought them no matter how well you made them, wouldn't you spend a reasonable amount on the product. Think about it. Don't buy the widgits if they suck, and don't go to Cubs games if they suck. Maybe then we'll get a winning team, or maybe change of management.

Say to yourself, next time we have a ten game losing streak, What would the Cardinals do?

The debate of not packing 'em in when the Cubs suck has been the beating and re-beating of the dead horse all season. It's not going to happen. Like it or not, there are fans who will support the Cubs no matter what. There will also be plenty of people eager to see Wrigley who aren't necessarily Cubs fans. The 2003 playoff afterglow will last at least a couple more years, I'm sure - regardless of whether the Cubs win anything.

People will come, Ray. People will most definitely come.

This is about ...
... the third or fourth thread that has been posted discussing this Rosenthal article.

I ask you again, PLEASE check first to see if your topic is already being discussed in a diary or in the main post(s) of the day.

Thanks.

Ask again
Al, being that I'm new to the site, and that the Rosenthal article I read was posted early this morning, I haven't read any threads to it. Maybe the article originated someplace else, I didn't catch that. Easy on the new guy, huh..

Sorry...
... didn't mean to come down so hard.

You may have seen the article this morning, but I know I read it a couple of days ago, and there were some other threads discussing it. Here's one, for example.

Also, while I'm at it: a reminder to make the subject line of your diary tell something about what's inside. "Whadda think" doesn't really tell me much.

Thanks.

I think...
Roberto Novoa is worthless!

That's what I think.

Really?
That was probably his best major league appearance ever -- three scoreless innings and an RBI double.

Can't do much better than that as a relief pitcher.

Going to Wrigley
I hate when everyone brings up not going to the games.  This would only not give the Cubs concession money, most of the damn tickets were bought at the beginning of the season and if you bought 4 tickets and planned to take your wife and kids to the ballgame well then your still gonna go to the ballgame.

This argument only makes sense for "FUTURE" ticket buying.  As in next year will we see a repeat of first day ticket sales records like there was this year?  Well probably because Hendry will go out and do something this offseason and we will all be excited about the possibilities for "NEXT YEAR"

NO MORE TRADING THE FUTURE ITS ALL WE GOT!!!!

Actually, the Stadium is Cursed
I think this is ironic, because if you read the text of the "curse" that BG Sianis uttered, he said that the "Cubs that they would never win another pennant or play in a World Series at Wrigley Field again"

It says nothing about the Cubs not winning, just not winning at Wrigley. So theoretically, in 1984, if they had moved games to the South Side, the Cubs might have won. Who knows.

That is is, of course, if you believe in foolish things like curses.

Bring me the head of Rafael Furcal.

no one.....
should believe in curses. they are so stupid. let's just put together a good team and make a run. I repeat: there are no curses! just bad baseball!

OT: Baseball alive at old Tiger Stadium site
I have to admit, i didn't expect this to work, and i generally don't condone ratting somebody out, but i think Woo Woo inspires special circumstances.

He was a few rows above me and a group of maybe a hundred other University of Iowa alumni last night, and started right in with the wooing early and loud. Between innings, he was... how shall i say this... creeping around? We all know his reputation.

Within 10 minutes of making a complaint to the Cubs text line, he was gone. Might be worth trying in future instances.

Sorry for the crappy picture quality... just got a new phone (HTC EVO) and am not sure how to take screen caps yet.
