Best Cubs Moment

Hi everybody.  New user here.  I wanted to see what everybody's favorite Cubs moment has been.  My favorite was being at Wrigley on June 19, 2004.  The Cubs were down by one in the bottom of the ninth.  Chad Bradford came in, Hollandsworth and Walker each hit singles off of him.  The Michael Barrett came up and hit a double down the right field line to beat the A's.  That was the best moment of my Cubs life.  On a side note, it was a shame not getting Furcal, but Cedeno has been a fantastic shortstop.  It is Murton that personally, I am more worried about.  However, I sure would rather have Murton in left field than Freddie Bynum.

Go Cubs Forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

look to the link "Why We Are Here" on the BCB homepage for those type of stories.

There are stories like that there...
... but those are also more "general" stories on how people became fans.

If anyone wants to post a SPECIFIC story of a single game like the diary writer did, feel free. I may have posted this before, but mine is still from September 30, 1984.

The division had been clinched. But the Cubs were playing the Cardinals, and trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the 9th, they came back to win against Bruce Sutter, denying him what would have been at the time a record-breaking 46th save.

And no one would leave the park. Ten minutes later the team came back on the field for a "victory lap".

Those are commonplace now. But in 1984 they were rare, and NO ONE in Chicago had ever seen one before. It was an amazing, amazing moment.

2003 vs. Cardinals
The Cubs and Cards had a huge series and one of the games went extras in a pitching duel Sammy finally won it with a walk-off homer...snappy game and Cubs took off after winning this series. I think someone wrote a book (with LaRussa) about it.

May have been the best game I've ever seen wish I could remember more details 12-inns or so anyone remember more?

That was...
... the best regular-season series I have ever seen. Had those five games been a playoff series they would have become legendary.

The game you're talking about is this one, the first of a split doubleheader on September 2, 2003. It went 15 innings; Sosa's HR came after an Augie Ojeda single. Ojeda had hit a long fly ball in the 12th, which was caught at the wall. The wind was blowing in -- otherwise AUGIE would have had the walkoff. The second game of that DH is the one where Moises Alou hit a ball with the bases loaded, which would have cleared them and given the Cubs the lead in the 7th (they were down 2-0, which wound up the final score), only to have it ruled foul by rookie umpire Justin Klemm. Alou went nuts, and Antonio Alfonseca, in the bullpen, charged at Klemm and bumped him, resulting in a 7-game suspension (the joke, of course, was that the Cubs were going to appeal and try to get that raised to 20 games).

It was the only game they lost in that series. Click here to see what I wrote about that series at the time.

Prior's first start
I was there.  He pitched like a winner.  Sammy hit a homer.  Perfect Cubs experience.

Aramis's
grand slam in the nlcs, first grand slam in cub playoff history, and I was there.  I have never been so convinved of something as I was we were going to win the pennant. Can't believe how much that still hurts.

Wow.
That's exactly how I feel, too. I was there in Miami as well.
