within the near future. :) Ok, now that I have your attention, I'll proceed. I was disgusted by the endless flood of Walker trade rumors over the past year. His one of our few hitters who (prepare yourself, this is going to sound crazy but yes he actually...) gets on base for us. On top of that, he commands the hefty salary of $2.5M, which is peanuts in pro baseball today, unless the paycheck is being written to Neifi Perez. However, despite the stupidity of not trying to re-sign this guy, I believe the cubs will try to move him before the deadline. Here's why...
1.) the cubs have always been stupid enough to want to move him
2.) Dusty actually called out a player yesterday, and big surprise, it was walker. In reaction to walker's flip to cedeno to get the double play, "Walker bobbled the ball and didn't field it cleanly. When you bobble like that, the baserunner gets closer than you want."
Walker then criticized Brenly's analysis of the play. Finally, Walker called out his teammate, as well as the team, stating, " If Ronny makes an accurate throw, of course that changes the inning. But we gave up four hits before that, too."
3.) The call up of Ryan Theriot to start and second base leads me to believe they are preparing him for a platoon with, dare i say, neifi, at second base.
what cubs position player is the most under-rated and under paid?
