This really...
... isn't a diary; it should have been a comment in the game thread.

Again,
please fill us in on what exactly he did - I could not watch the game...

ronny
the only thing i saw him do real bad last night was k 2 or 3 times and he could of had a easy double play but instead of taking it himself he underhanded it to neifi and the guy beat the play at 1st which scored a run

by tbizzle83 on Jul 25, 2006 10:53 AM CDT up reply actions

comparison
ronny is the 2nd coming of rey ordonez. cant makethe easy plays makes the super plays and cant hit worth a lick

by tbizzle83 on Jul 25, 2006 10:51 AM CDT reply actions

Ronny Cedeno
is the second coming of Augie Ojeda.  He is nothign more than a light hitting utility infielder type who isn't all together dazzling in the field.  Yet the Dusty bashers will crucify the manager if Cedeno's name isn't in the lineup everyday.  Lovely stuff.

by Mike63 on Jul 25, 2006 10:56 AM CDT up reply actions

That is actually unfair to both of them
Ojeda is brilliant fielder but he can't hit his way
out of a paper bag. Cedeno is throwing poorly but
he can hit a bit

maybe out of a bag
but not a thrown baseball, especially one that curves.

Is it time to
consider sending him down to Iowa??  His ops is .319 this month and he's about ready to dip under .600 in ops.

I don't agree with the theory of keep sending him out there til they get through it.  This stretch may destroy his confidence for good.

Just start Theriot @ 2b and Nefster @ SS for a while. Let Augie have some success @ Iowa and bring him back up in September.

Sidenote: I have to laugh now considering how some didn't want to inclue Augie in the Tejada trade.  So much for young and cheap theory.

Yes
Ronny needs to get some focus back and (hate to say it) needs some Von Joshua style fixin-up in AAA.

Ideally, he'd be able to get that on the MLB level, but noooooooooo the Cubs will continue to fiddle while the team burns and will squander the rest of the season letting retreads and never-beens collect their paychecks.

What does not kill you makes you stronger.

DFA time
He is not, nor ever was a prospect.  He is the worst regular in the NL and time spent on him is time wasted.  By all means start Theriot/Fontenot/whomever, just make sure Cedeno isnt anywhere near the 40-man roster in '07.
