Izturis and waivers.

Two-part diary from a guy who visits daily but doesn't post a lot.

One part of the diary is just a poll to get a true count (not just diary posts) on Cubs fans' feelings about the trade.  Yes, the last option in the poll is my own personal opinion and doesn't necessarily fit - I know.  ;-)

The second part is an open blog/inquiry.  Humor me.  Is it still within the realm of REALISM to believe that Hendry might have a few more trades ready to go using the post-deadline waiver-trade avenue?  Any realistic ideas, BCB-ers?

Poll
Maddux for Izturis:
Great trade! - Izturis will have his best years as a Cub, and his defense will make up for his offensive struggles.

Great trade! - Hendry raped the Dodgers for a defensive All-Star who's going to explode offensively!

I'm with "Not Rose Colored" - gives Hendry another excuse not to go after a position player in the offseason to fill the spot. MAYBE Carlos Lee as ONE position player in the offseason, perhaps, with a home town discount -- but then the coffers c

Lousy trade! - should have gotten more.

Lousy trade! - but couldn't have gotten anything more for Maddux.

Meh. - Maddux was gone anyway and Izturis is at least something.

Meh. - Izturis will be gone in a year anyway.

nevin could go for scraps
nobody wants rusch, and neifi's too valuable in hendry's "mind."

it's all about getting the #1 draft pick now. keep pitching rich hill!

hopefully
this years draft is a little more stocked than last years. it seems like my teams (mostly i'm talking about the bears and bulls, but the 03 draft with ryan harvey also comes to mind) always get high picks when the draft pool sucks.

especially the bulls. i swear they have top picks whenver there's a bunch of stacey kings instead of carmello/lebrons.

Wait until...
...next year, when the Bulls get to swap top picks with the Knicks if they want to.  I'm pretty sure the Knicks are going to be even worse than last year, which might put the Bulls on the top of the draft lottery in the "Greg Oden" draft.

Red Sox
(I know kinda cross posted, but I didn't se this diary)

I could see the Cubs trading Blanco to the Red Sox for a mid level prospect or 2,nothing great, but they have a pretty solid farm system so I'd take it, although the idea of going without Varitek for a month may make them pretty desperate and they might give up something kinda good
