I've been waiting for these articles to be written for a long time now. These articles are the best I have come across at a full review of who is available in the free agent market.
Some other great things from this article:
Full review of 2006-2007 Free Agents
Full list of players with options (both club and individual)
Predictions (tough to do, but he takes a stab at where the free agents will go)
Contract terms predictions - helps to get a "feel" for what these guys might be demanding
Potential trade candidates
An early look at 2007-2008 free agents
I strongly recommend checking these articles out. Here is the article on pitchers
here is the article on position players
EDIT: Obviously, these predictions are just the writers best guess after looking at team needs. Note, that the team predictions ARE NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THIS ARTICLE. They are still good articles for the other content.
Here's who he predicts the Cubs will sign:
Aramis Ramirez - He predicts he'll opt out, and sign for 5 years, 65 mil
Dave Roberts - 2 years, 11 mil
Jose Guillen - 1 years, 5 mil
Miguel Batista - 2 years, 12 mil
Other things to note:
Remember how some of you have been saying "Resign Juan Pierre for 2 years", and I've been saying all along that he's going to get 4 years and more than 5 mil per year? This article predicts 4/30, which he is not worth.
Pouliot is predicting that Daisuke Matsuzaka is going to cost about 25-30 million to win the rights to sign him, and then another 15 million per year. Could end up to expensive for this organization.
