Mark Giangreco

Mark Giangreco's comment on the news last night
...I don't get how to post a diary yet.

Star-divide

Over at GROTA, they mention a comment Giangreco made last night on the news.  Did anybody else see this?  According to them he basically took a potshot at Cubs fans.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

I was gonna mention that.
I was just reading that over at GROTA. I don't watch ABC (sorry Al), but if he really did say that it's dissapointing. Sounds like it was a pretty stupid thing to say. For those of you who are curious here's the link: http://www.goatriders.org/archives/2006/09/the_cubs_are_so.html

great
so when I make a fool of myself at the game on Friday I have to worry about Giangreco making some snarky comment?

fantastic

actual wording
Hey, this is the goat rider who saw the Giangreco nastiness on ABC.  if anyone knows how to find the transcript of the telecast, I've love to have the exact wording.

Thanks

What did he say?
Since Goat Riders is blocked here at work, I was wondering what he said that riled everyone up.

blocked at work?
We're a nice, clean site.  You're sure you didn't try to go to goatriders.com (warning: never go to that site)?

Anyway, the paraphrased text was:

"...and, of course, like all Cub fans they're not watching the game."

in response to some people eating some food.  As I said, I'd love to have the actual text, word for word.

I just went to the site...
...you told me not to go to.

Damn you, it's like saying don't think of a pink elephant.

There are things on that site you see that you can never unsee...like a link to...REPOSSESSED CARS!

Yes, I meant Goat Riders of the Apocalypse..
I just said Goat Riders as an abbreviation.  I have never heard of the other site (and I am not sure I want to check it out).   Its funny here...some obvious sports sites are blocked (like the main pages of the sports sections inthe Trib and Times) but others are not (like the individual stories on the Times sites, which I can find a back door to get to)  BCB is allowed, GROTA is not.

The thing that's amusing to me...
...is that the people who set up your firewall had to have a discussion with your company about what sites should be blocked to employees and during the course of said discussion it was decided that it was absolutely necessary to block all sites with the word "goat" in them.

Seems to me your employers have a very low opinion of their workforce.

I'd tell you to bring it up to them, but that wouldn't probably be a good idea.

A woman eating food
This was a running gag from the middle innings of the game broadcast.  The camera guy caught a 20-ish young woman trying to eat a very loaded and messy hot dog with a plastic knife and fork.  Len and Bob made several jokes about ballpark eating etiquette, and the camera kept cutting back to her at the end of innings, etc.  Later, they showed a guy who had bought her a piece of cheesecake standing in an entrance looking for her.  "Does she still have room for cheesecake, Bob?" "There's always room for cheesecake, Len.  You just had some last night at the restaurant." "Oh, yeah.  I did."  This is typical schtick like what Pat and Ron do all the time when the game is boring and the Cubs are losing.

I didn't see Giangreco's report, but if he just made some smart-aleck comment about the Cubs being less fun to watch than a woman eating a hot dog with a fork, I doubt he really was lambasting Cub fans.  He was probably just using the only interesting footage from prior to the 5th inning.  Keep in mind he's preparing the broadcast when the Cubs are losing 7-0, and they only caught up close to airtime.

The GROTA posting does not repeat Giangreco's comment or go into any detail, kasey.

the comment
was:

"...and, of course, like all Cub fans they're not watching the game."

which is a direct dig at Cub fans, which is weird since Giangreco's always come off as a Cub fan.  Apparently his allegence is wavering.

Oops!
I see that the GROTA posting does list Giangreco's comment as "Like all Cub fans, they're not watching the game."  Missed it in the italics.

OK, it's kinda snarky.  But if you were there in the park with the team down by 7, you might have wanted to find other entertainment, too.

Whatever happened to Mark Prior?
Maybe the news can doi an investigative report to determine his whereabouts?

Does Soriano's defense at 2B really cost more runs than in LF? He makes a lot fewer errors in LF since misplays and mental mistakes aren't figured into the stats, but I have to imagine that his mistakes are more physical at 2B. Any thoughts? Is there a statistic on this?
