I couldn't make the convention but have a request.....

Unfortunately, (and despite my wife's best efforts) we couldn't get tickets to this year's convention. Even though I considered driving up from Indianapolis to see if anyone was scalping tickets, I ended up working Saturday so my plans were derailed.

I'm hoping some BCBer out there might be able to help. I've put together a really nice collection of Cubs Convention stuff over the years (in fact I have every program expect for years 1 through 4, a less impressive collection of tickets to the convention and lapel pins.

Anyone out there who went to this year's convention willing to part with an extra program or ticket that I can add to my convention collection? Any "donation" to the cause would be greatly appreciated by a Cubs fan in Indy. You can e-mail me at niuprez (at) sbcglobal.net (Yes, I'm a Northern Illinois University grad) or leave a response on this post.

Thanks. Go Cubs.

thanks.
I really appreciate it. I knew the folks at BCB would come though.

Are there other people out there who collect
ticket stubs?

I've seen a lot on ebay and even a lot for games that haven't been played (like Cubs World Series tickets).  I actually have a couple of friends who have sold them on ebay in the past.

I have to say - I don't really understand it.  I'm not criticizing, I just don't get it.  What do people do with ticket stubs after the game has ended?  What about tickets, like the ones I mentioned above, for games that have never been played?

A caveat
For someone like the poster of this diary, it makes sense to me.  cbfaninindy apparently wants programs and tickets to every Cubs Convention.  That's a pretty finite collection.

But there have been thousands of Cubs games - nobody is going to get tickets from all of them.

There's a big market...
... oddly enough, for "phantom" postseason tickets, i.e. for teams that printed WS tickets and never got there.

Check eBay -- you'll be surprised at what you'll find.

Programs etc....
My collection (in terms of tickets) is pretty much limited to the Cubs Convention. I've got most of the programs (only missing 1-4) and I've got the tickets to all but the earliest conventions.

If anyone has anything they want to part with (in terms of the Cubs Convention) let me know. I'd definitely like to get some of the earlier giveaways. (I've got most of the calendars, baseball card giveaways and some of the hats).

Does anyone know what, if anything, was given away at the first convention?

I'd appreciate any info.

I have nothing to contribute
Just want to say I'm an NIU grad, too. BA in '92 and MA in '95. I wasn't really into baseball back then, though. I was more a get-hammered-at-Otto's-and-end-up-at-the-Junction-kinda guy. Waitaminute, I'm still that kinda guy, just into baseball now, too.

Peace.

I didn't have the ball, bitch!
