OBD: Usurper Edition
Yes, I'm stealing the Off Base Diary from Julie today. She told us we could on Saturday, so haha, I am. Bring on the flaming.
In Stupid Mets Fans news, did you here about the guy who got banned? Evidently posing as a reporter is a no-no, although how are they mad about him annoying Piazza, isn't that a good thing?
And for anyone out there with Restless Leg Syndrome you might want to be aware of the side effects of Requip. Sure drowsiness, nausea, vomiting and dizziness are pretty much a given, but "pathological gambling and hypersexuality"? Very nice. Not just gambling, pathological gambling.
And my contribution to your useless information education is this site, Random Facts, because you need to know Kermit the Frog is left handed.
Of course I would be remiss if I did not share the Transformers Trailer with you all, the real site has more, but you know, watching it load is boring.
Happy Wednesday all.

Know what upsets me about the Transformers Movie?
Bah. It's been done. See Independence Day. See War of the Worlds. See any other movie that has aliens coming to earth and wreaking havoc.
INSTEAD, the Transformers movie should be about the interplay between the two factions of robots...why the Autobots and the Decepticons are warring...the differing personalities (robot-alities?) of the robots...their interplay with eachother.
In an ideal world, humans would have a SUPPORTING role in any Transformers move...not the other way around.
All of this isn't to say that the movie won't be entertaining, because it likely will be everything a summer blockbuster is supposed to be. However, I fear that it will go down in cinema history in the same breath as the afore-mentioned "aliens-come-to-earth-and-wreak-havoc" movies...instead of something much, much cooler.

I have a question
I am not...
However, I would recommend a short HTML tutorial and you should be able to figure it out.
This site is a good introduction to HTML and will answer your questions, I believe.

Apparently this guy is robbing women of their shoes and then (gag) sucking on their toes. Ewww!!!!
Makes me wonder why they don't just kick him in the face??

No,
I hate feet. There is something seriously wrong with that guy.
Also, around these neck of the woods, there is a serial flasher up at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

And no Ipod Five?
So, I'll give it the ol' college try. If you have a better and more thought-provoking question, feel free to call me names and introduce yours.
QOTD: What one sporting event would you most like to attend? This could be something in the past (a great game or event), or just overall.
For me, it would be a tie between The Masters or this year's upcoming NBA All-Star Game in Vegas. That is going to be so nuts, it's not even funny.
And of course, I'm sure most would say a Cubs World Series, so let's just put that as a given.

Seriously, I think it would be great, and I've seen less prestigious groups sing at games. We have to be cooler than the local knitting and cross stitch association.

Easy...
For regularly scheduled sports events? I'd put the Kentucky Derby high up there...Masters Sunday would be awesome....
But Northwestern in the Rose Bowl? That would be the experience of a lifetime...I could truly die happily after that....lord knows how much money I'd be willing to pay for the whole trip.
I'm so

Kerry Wood's 20 Strikeout game
Great choice.
I want to go to a playoff game in baseball, basketball, and football. The World Cup would be a blast too.
The 20-K game...
I have been to six All-Star games:
1975, Milwaukee
1983, old Comiskey Park
1984, San Francisco
1990, Wrigley Field
1991, Toronto
2003, the Cell
Fun times, all of them.
Also...
I attended nineteen of them. (Missed: game 3 in SD in '84, games 1 & 2 of the NLDS in '98, and the three games in Atlanta in the NLDS in 2003.)
Also was at the division clincher in Pittsburgh in 1984.
I hope I get to go to...
Thanks.
You've got plenty of time to catch up!
How many games have you gone to again?
You know...
Really??!!
by cubbieboy on Jan 24, 2007 4:40 PM CST up reply actions
Since...
But I've been going to 50+ games a year since 1979.
That is
YOu were almost there anyway with the Neifi jersey but this puts it over the top.
by cubbieboy on Jan 24, 2007 4:44 PM CST up reply actions
OK, Al...
That would be about 63 games per season to catch up to something around your total by the time I turn your age.
I seriously don't think I will ever go to that many games in one season. Maybe if I ever get season tickets, but I don't see it happening. I'm not that concerned with that though. I like to watch baseball games from the comfort of my home(or someone else's). I enjoy baseball either way.
If I really wanted to go to 63 games a year at some point in my life, I think I could. But for now my goal is to make it to at least one game each month of the season.
That's a good goal...
I might go to this years All-Star weekend in SF
I don't know...
Also...
Now THAT....
I LOVE
this summer its all about the Cape Cod League for me!
I used to...
Usually...
Not too bad...
Having gone...
Usually if you win a ticket lottery (which is likely what the Giants will have), you will get the right to buy a strip of tickets to all three events.
HR Derby
and the Derby was weird, wind blowing in, there were what, 10?
You're talking about the 1990 HR Derby...

I got season 2 as well. The gag reel is great too. Also, just to top off my nerdiness, the commentaries are really interesting.
