I remember being there one September against Seattle when there was about 3,000 in the stands.  Of course, I was also there when they were shooting crowd scenes for "Major League" and the place was packed with over 73,000.  That was something...

I'm kinda scared to move again though.  I mean, I go from a city where the river catches on fire and to a place where the river springs a leak!  What's next?

Would you want a designated free throw shooter in basketball so someone like Shaq doesn't have to shoot free throws? Didn't think so.

You'd have your normal starting lineup of 9 position players - yes, the pitcher would hit - and then you'd have a 10th person, the EH, that would only hit, not be in the field.  This way, you'd have the best of both leagues - the need for managerial strategy on when to pinch-hit for the pitcher, bunt, etc., as well as the excitement of having a David Ortiz-type in the lineup.

I can think of only one negative to this scenario - but it's a big one, at least to the purists/traditionalists, of which I'm one.  Having 10 guys in the batting lineup breaks up the natural symmetry (is that the word I'm looking for?) of 3's and 9's in the game.  A perfect game would no longer mean 3 and only 3 times through the lineup.

To me, that's enough of a reason NOT to do this, but speaking objectively, I think we're at the point (and have been for awhile) where it's worth considering.
