BCB Championship Series Contest

The Cubs failed to advance, but that doesn't mean we can't follow and have a little fun with the NLCS, and the ALCS too.

So -- I challenge all of you to pick the winners of the league title series, and there will be cool prizes for the winners, one per league.

Let's keep this simple. Pick the winner, one for each league. Now, obviously, that will mean many people will get them right.

So, there will be two tiebreakers:

  • First tiebreaker: pick the number of games to win each series
  • Second tiebreaker: pick the total number of runs scored in each series
I'll close off the comments in this post just before the first game, which is Rockies/Diamondbacks on Thursday, October 11 at 7:30 pm CT. Have fun and good luck!

My absolutely, totally wild guesses
It should be an exciting, if not heartbreaking Cubless NLCS.  Snakes beat the Rockies in an extra inning (at least 12) 7th game. 57 total runs.

ALCS is youth vs. experience.  Sabathia vs. Beckett.  I say that the youth will be served.
Indians beat the BoSox 4 games to 2.  37 total runs.

Al,

Thanks for running this site, and thanks for running the contest.

Boston and Colorado in the WS???
Since there is no baseball (or any sports for that matter) I was bored in my hotel room IN LOUISVILLE and decided to read up on BCB.  I was mainly focused on the Contest results because I am interested to see who everyone thinks is going to win.  That said, I decided to take all that data and break it down in a spreadsheet and do some analysis.  (Really, I had nothing better to do).  I made a column for User, Series, Team, Games, and Runs.  I am actually surprised by how close everything came out.  I am posting 3 different analysis: Predicted winner, Avg number of games and runs, and avg runs per game.

Predicted Winner
Arizona          41  32%  Boston        74   57%
Colorado      88  68%  Cleveland    55   43%
Grand Total  129 100%  Grand Total 129    100%

Avg games and runs predicted
Arizona     6 and 54    Boston     6 and 55
Colorado 6 and 54    Cleveland   6 and 58

Avg Runs per game
Boston         9.62
Cleveland    9.09
Arizona         9.02
Colorado     9.48

So Based on the above stats, we would have Boston and Colorado in the WS.

I cut off at the post by scottsdaleirish

Clarification
The avg runs per game is for both teams based on who wins the series.  I.E if Boston wins then the two teams combined would have averaged 9.62 runs per game based on our predictions.
