Pat Hughes Appearance
I just heard about this and thought some of you may be interested.
Pat Hughes, Cubs radio announcer, will be making an appearance tomorrow night to sign copies of his new CD/Book "Harry Caray: Voice of the Fans."
If anyone is interested...
The signing will take place at Anderson's Bookshop (123 West Jefferson St.) in downtown Naperville. Hughes will give a brief talk about the book/series, answer any questions from the audience, and then sign books. The event begins at 7pm.
I know it's a long trek for you city dwellers, but I've been to a few signings there, and there is generally less than 200 people - so it's a pretty good opportunity to talk with Pat and ask any questions you have. There are also several very nice restaurants in the area if you want to make an evening of it.
Maybe I'll see some of you there.

Is that the place where Mark Prior
by JFCubFan on Nov 12, 2007 1:34 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Nope
It wasn't clearly stated what you would have to do to meet Prior - there were signs outside the building and along the road that said he'd be there, but not until you got inside did it say he'd only sign Just Ducky items (all of which were very expensive items that I didn't want to own, like a ceramic Wrigley Field...). The whole thing was poorly communicated and terribly disorganized. I felt bad for the little kids that were in line, but I didn't blame Prior for leaving.
Anderson's is a little mom and pop bookshop that's been there for 50+ years. They do three or four author events a week and always handle them brilliantly. I've seen Gale Sayers and Cal Ripken Jr. (along with dozens of big name writers) there and it was an amazingly smooth experience - everyone got a little one on one with the authors and the line moved quickly. The question/answer sessions were always fun too.
I'd highly recommend going.
