OT: Sounds like a new zoo in the Bronx

It appears as though Hank Steinbrenner has been paying attention to his old man all of these years after all.  Every time there's been a story about the Yankees this offseason, Hank is there with a quote, and usually there's lots of "I" this and "I" that, making it sound as though he's the only one making the decisions.

It almost makes me feel sorry for Brian Cashman and Joe Girardi.

I'm with you
so tired of the Yankees/Red Sox drama - most national writers are starting to sound more and more like Peter Gammons, making like their the only two teams that exist.

Masochists
I've always thought that you would need to be a masochist to be involved with Yankees ownership. It must be strange - wanting to be a part of that history so badly that you're willing to take almost any abuse heaped upon you by the Steinbrenner clan (although the money probably helps offset the agony).  With George having made what is most likely the end of his public role with the team, Hank has made sure to get himself out there as the new face and voice of the Yankees; I can't imagine how embarrassed Cashman is to have his owner publicly injecting himself into serious business negotiations.  It would be like your backer in a poker game standing behind you commenting on your hand after you pushed all of your chips into the center of the table.

Brian Cashman has got to be relieved that he's being given so much credit for rebuilding the Yankees farm system.  He's going to have a lot of job offers after he melts down and leaves New York.

Since I left, I've always missed Chicago but never as much as I do right now!
