Merry Christmas

As most of you know, I'm Jewish and thus don't celebrate Christmas.

But if I did, this is all I'd want this year:

With a Cubs logo on it, of course. Merry Christmas, everyone.

well in that case...
...Happy belated Hanukkah Al!  I looked up the dates for Hanukkah and saw that it ended on the 12th of December this year.  Hope it was a great time for you.
I also agree, a Cubs World Series Championship would be a great gift no matter what you celebrate.

It's got to be
the ugliest trophy in sports.

But I'd take it on behalf of our Cubs.

Happy Holidays
to all my cub friends on BCB and especially Al.

I didn't want to start a diary but Comcast has the Cubs/Brewers game on at 2:30 this afternoon from August 28. I believe I'll be watching to get my winter Cubs fix. And tell me why they are sandwiching this game around two Sox games? Didn't we win the division? I don't understand.

Here's to another championship, a little bigger this time would be great. Thanks again Al for your inspiration to keep Bleedcubbieblue alive for all of us fans!

This is only the beginning....Lou Pinella end of '07 season and Chicago Transit Authority (the band when they were really good).

re: didn't we win the division
Because a future hall of famer hit his 500th home run in one of the games, and the other was a no-hitter. Both are pretty big deals.

And, there really wasn't a "clinching game" for the cubs winning the division, unless they rerun the brewers crapping in the bed.

Having that trophy with a Cubs logo on it
is LONG LONG LONG! Overdue.

Merry Christmas
Like Al, I'm Jewish and don't celebrate Christmas. But when I wish people "happy birthday", it's usually not my birthday either!

Best of the holidays to everyone, and may 2008 be a more peaceful year here, and around the world.

Having the traditional Jewish Christmas Al?
Chinese food and a movie. I am changing mine this year.
Ukranian food and a movie. This is New York so a lot of choices on the food. I think I kind of got my "Christmas " present early
when Clemens got a lump of coal in his stocking.

Merry Christmas all

Roberts interview
Does anyone know whether the interview Brian Roberts did with WGN is archived on the internet anywhere?

Thanks and Happy Holidays to everyone.

Happy Holidays
Merry Christmas to my fellow Christians.

A Happy and Joyous Day to all.

Let's hope that next Christmas we're all still basking in the glow of a world series championship and almost all if not all of our presents are Cubs World Series related merchandise. (I think there's no question we'll all still be basking come December the year they win I plan on basking at least until the next April).

Since my brother married my sister in law who is Jewish her parents and brother and sister in law join us for dessert on Christmas Day not to celebrate the holiday's religious part but to celebrate a special day.  We also have joined them for some of their holiday dinners.  Have learned a heck of a lot the last few years particularly from her Uncle who is a Rabbi.

They also had one of the best weddings I've ever been too.  Neither are all that religious and they had a judge friend of our family perform the state of Illinois required ceremony and then had her uncle and my 2nd cousin who is a deacon perform some of the traditional prayers and traditions of the 2 faiths.

We are all waiting for that glorious October night when we finally win it all. Until then we will continue to cheer, never do the wave and hope.

Happy Christmas ...
From far too sunny Arkansas!  Al, a special greeting to you and yours.  What movie did y'all end up seeing today?  That was always my Jewish ex-beau's favourite Christmas activity.

And hey, Go Cubs, Go!

No movie today...
... went to visit some friends. Might go see a movie tomorrow, just to be different.

Hope all of you had a great holiday!

Merry Christmas
It was sunny in Arkansas.  The Arkansas/Oklahoma line saw 60 deg. Christmas.  Just wasn't the same.  Hope everybody is having a good holiday season and looking forward to 2008 and the Cubs bringing home the trophy.

A most wonderful holiday...
I got 'The Cubs: The Complete Story of Chicago Cubs Baseball' from my Dad and a signed Greg Maddux baseball from my little sister.  She got him to sign one this year when she was out west.  Couldn't have been better.  Excellent book so far, BTW.  I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays.

Bruce Levine Reports...
... that the Cubs are looking for Figgins or Roberts to lessen the number of at bats for DeRosa by 50-100 ABs.

They also want to be able to move Soriano down in the lineup if they get a bonifide lead-off guy.

We'll see...

by initram on Dec 25, 2007 10:28 PM CST reply actions

But...
... who would be "a bonafide leadoff guy"? Figgins could, I guess. But then, what you're doing is taking Soriano out of his comfort zone.

If this report is true, it could be a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Is it Shown or SHawn Figgins?
I know its spelled Chone but if it's pronounced as in rhymes with dawn it will make 4 different players who played for the Cubs in the last 20 years who pronounced their name shawn as in rhymes with dawn but spelled it 4 different ways if we got figgins.

Shawn Boskie
Sean Marshall
Shawon Dunston

Chone Figgins.

Yes I tend for the obscure.
