Spring training in pictures: Day one!

I've been looking around the net for some pictures of the Cubs at spring training, so I thought I'd share the only two good ones I found (both from Yahoo! News) with you guys.  They're both of Alfonso Soriano, and it's nice to see him in a Cubs uniform for real (even if it's the lame one with the goofy side paneling and the hat with ear stripes).

Soriano One

Soriano Two

As an aside, am I the only one who really, really hopes that people stop refering to Daisuke Matsuzaka as "Dice-K"?

You must
They are available just about everywhere now.

The perfect Cadburry Creme Egg is sometimes difficult to achieve.  You can't just pick it up, unwrap it, and eat it.  You have to make sure it is the right temperature.  If you hold it in your hand too long it will melt and be a gooey mess.  But if it is too cold, the inside will be too solid.  You should hold it in your hand at room temperature for about 30 seconds to get the insides to be the right consistency.

You should also start at the narrower end.

These are important things to remember when you have your first Egg.  You might not get it right on the first try.  Thus, I recommend buying 10 or 20 of them.  They are not that expensive.

Also, the chocolate filled ones are really good too.  But nothing beats the creme.

The chocolate filled ones

Soriano gets a lot of power from his big wrists. I suppose that could be because he's carried one of the largest bats around since his early adolescence. Dunno though.

Yay!
I was pretty upset that when I looked there were no pictures from the Cubs. Yahoo had new ones like everyday last year.

I don't care what they call him.  They need to stop taking pictures of him and take pictures of Matt Murton and all the other Cubs.

I don't mind the Dice-K nickname. For one thing, it reminds everyone of the correct pronunciation of his first name (which sounds exactly like that).

Damn. There I go being the voice of reason again.

Spring Training
Our local ESPN affiliate is running a contest to win a trip to see our beloved Indianapolis Indians (Pirates' AAA team) in spring training. I'm sure it'd be fun, but I can't help thinking what a big disappointment going to Florida for spring training would be.

by carlheartscubs on Feb 16, 2007 8:16 AM CST up reply actions

It's the Pirates now?
I think it changed affiliations each of the three years that I was in Bloomington

florida
I'm going to Florida for vacation in March, and my parents happen to live 20 minutes from the Pirates camp, so thats where I will see my only ST

sign, it is disappointing, but laying around the beach and drinking Yuengling at Sharky's makes up for it (on and the flight is like 3 hours shorter)

I agree...
...Dice-K sucks as a nickname.

And, yeah, Soriano is pretty damn skinny. Also, maybe this is just wishful thinking, but he (Soriano) looks really young. Everyone made such a big deal out of him being 38 when his contract is up, but maybe 38 is the new 28, no?

I didn't have the ball, bitch!
