We kinda have an idea on the spring training rotation.
But I have yet to see any talk about the rotation when the games count. Obviously, We know the #1 but after Zambrano it could be very interesting.
Also the bull pen as well. Dempster at the end but with a short leash.
#1 Carlos Zambrano
#2 Rich Hill
#3 Mark Prior
#4 Ted Lilly
#5 Jason Marquis
I like this arrangement best because your definately facing a left handed pitcher in basically any 3 game series and In those lovely 4 game sets you might see 2 of them.
Not that left handed pitchers automatically equate to wins but, Its always nice to have them pitch at least one game of a 3 game set.
Mark Prior is really a wild card in all of this, Prior if healthy gives a middle of the rotation balance and could be looked upon as a second Ace, and has a left pitching ahead of him in the rotation and behind him as well.
Ted Lilly should stay at #4 but probably wont, Lilly is sort of an inigma in my opinion. While he's shown in the past of flashes of a #2 guy, He's only a career .500 pitcher.
Jason Marquis not much really can be said for him other then I hope Rothschild can get him back to some what decent numbers.
The Bull Pen is really set and is a strength of the Cubs, especially with Neal Cotts and Kerry Wood at both ends of the pen.
I think that Cotts' transition to the NL will be very favorable for him.
What do you think?
