TBD Games

I've noticed that a lot of regular season games at Wrigley are still marked "TBD", anyone know when those game times are usually announced?  It's making it really hard to plan our trip to Chicago this year.  Do they usually end up being night games or day games?  What is holding up the announcement of the start times?

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

The schedule I have...
... shows only two home games listed as "TBD" -- Sunday, August 5 vs. the Mets, and Sunday, August 19 vs. the Cardinals.

Obviously, that's in case ESPN wants either of those for the Sunday night game. I imagine there will be several weeks' notice for either of these.

There are a few other TBD's on the schedule, but those are all road games.

Thanks Al
It's the August 5th game that I'm interested in.

ESPN...
... usually chooses its games at least through the All-Star break, before the season starts. They MAY pick games through August, but more likely, they'll decide about that one a month or so ahead of time.

Sorry I can't be of more help. If you buy tickets for that game and then find out you can't go because the game time is changed, you can always post them here when we do a Ticket Exchange diary.

My question is
What's the deal with all the Saturday starts at 2:55?

Those are...
... FOX-TV games. Why Fox has mandated such an odd starting time is beyond me, but that's the reason.

Figured since it didn't make sense...
...that it was FOX related.

Since it's kind of on subject, what's the deal with the impending deal between MLB and DirecTV? The deal hasn't officially been announced has it? Is there anyway that Congress can block such a deal?

I'm sure...
... Congress COULD block such a deal, if they were so inclined. There were supposed to be hearings -- I don't know if anything has been done in that regard.

But no, there has been no official announcement -- yet.
